I have a confession to make: I’ve been to the Jimmy Kimmel show.

Twice.

I like the Jimmy Kimmel show.

I’ve been to lots of shows. And Jimmy’s is one of the best, in terms of the audience experience.

The worst: Chelsea Handler’s.

I like Jimmy; he seems like he’d be a good guy to hang out with. As a monologuist, he seems that way, however, decreasingly.

And that surprises me.

His good friend, Adam Carolla, loves Dennis Prager. Adam is nothing close to left-wing, and so Jimmy must surely know there are other people in the world.

But on his show, he doesn’t act like it. Except when he’s ridiculing them. He seems to have found himself in a bubble where conservative Americans are nothing more than mythical fodder for jokes. And the entirety of any given audience is to the left of Barbara Boxer. So give ’em a wink, and mock those semi-existent righties.

He was winking away on Thursday, when he ridiculed the charitable Americans who have put their money where their mouths are, while the government sits on its hands: a triple-amputee Iraq veteran’s GoFundMe page for the border wall has accumulated over $15 million (here).

US Air Force Security Forces Senior Airman Brian Kolfage explains his fundraising effort this way:

“As a veteran who has given so much — three limbs — I feel deeply invested to this nation to ensure future generations have everything we have today. Too many Americans have been murdered by illegal aliens and too many illegals are taking advantage of the United States taxpayers with no means of ever contributing to our society. I have grandparents who immigrated to America legally, they did it the correct way and it’s time we uphold our laws, and get this wall BUILT! It’s up to Americans to help out and pitch in to get this project rolling. If the 63 million people who voted for Trump each pledge $80, we can build the wall. That equates to roughly five billion dollars, even if we get half, that’s half the wall. We can do this.

This is what Jimmy had to say about it:

“People, this is what people do with their disposable income when they don’t have loans from college to pay off. Donating money for a wall that will never exist. It’s like starting a college fund for Harry Potter. It’s a, it’s a waste. A more useful thing to do with your money would be to go outside and feed it to a bird but you do have to admire the sacrifice they’re making. I mean, a lot of these people are dipping into their meth money for this.”

In 2016, according to the Left, Trump inexcusably disrespected a Gold Star family. Where is their outrage over Kimmel’s treatment of a man who, in serving our country, lost his right arm and both legs?

Also Thursday, Laura Ingraham asked Brian — who had his pages shut down by Facebook during the midterm elections — what he had to say to critics who claim his efforts are in vain. Here’s his response.

“I say that they’re full of crap. And…this is the United States, and we can do anything we want. And if people want to donate to that wall and give their money, they can do it. I mean, what’s $80 for 60 million people? The common person can give that kind of money. … This is America coming together. They want the wall, and they’re putting their money where their mouth is. And they’re funding it.”

I like Jimmy Kimmel. But I wish he liked Americans — not just those who vote to his tastes, but those who keep the country running. Many of those are in the military, and most of those are conservative. As is Brian Kolfage — a man who gave of himself greatly, so that Jimmy could have the freedom to mock him.
