As the radical Left continue to try and improve society — and by “improve,” I mean destroy — we’re forced to watch some of the most endearing and normal components of a once-great civilization slide down the hill (like here, here, here, here, here, and especially here).
Case in point: a Christmas song once reflective of coy, clever romancing between the sexes during the mistletoe-laden, chilly holiday season is now a tribute to some sort of sick, rapey, creepy sexual degenerate, weirdo harassment maneuver. Or so they say. Meanwhile, there’s a dude in a onesie watching your 13-year-old daughter change in the locker room after school swim team practice; that’s zher’s identity.
I’m looking over Society here…is there a Reset button on this thing?
“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is a Christmas classic. But warriors of social justice — aka goofballs with a staggering lack of important things to keep their attention — have raged against the fantastic song.
As a result, Brian Figula — program director for San Francisco’s KOIT radio station — banned the wonderfully warm Christmas staple.
However, the public spoke up. As noted Figula’s statement Monday:
“After hearing from thousands of Bay Area listeners via polling, phone calls, emails and social media, KOIT has concluded that the vast majority consider the song to be a valuable part of their holiday tradition, and they still want to hear it on the radio.”
According to Brian, voters favored playing the song to the tune of 77%.
“KOIT’s listeners have spoken, and the overwhelming message is they do want to hear ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ on our station, as they have throughout the years. More than seven out of every ten listeners who responded said although some lyrics of the song may reflect a different era and a different sensibility than today, still they love the tradition and history of the song, and want to hear it as part of their holiday season.”
KOIT wasn’t the first station to ban the “Baby”: a station in Cleveland 86’d the great tale of Man and Woman, following some listeners’ complaint that it was all about date rape.
The song remains blacklisted in Cleveland, as well as in Denver and at some stations in Canada.
CBS News reported:
“In Canada, CBC Radio announced last week it would join at least two other broadcasters in the country — Rogers Media and Bell Media — in keeping the song off their holiday playlists. CBC spokeswoman Nicola Makoway said the broadcaster planned to remove the song at midnight on Tuesday with ‘no plans to play it going forward.'”
I don’t know why KOIT was so sensitive to any kind of sexual insinuation in the song to begin with. After all, their station is practically named KOITus.
What a bunch of goobs.
At least, in the end, the song (and sanity) won out.
And by the way, not only do I recommend playing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” all month long; I also implore you to give a listen to all of Dean Martin’s recordings. He is absolutely phenomenal. I’m a huge, HUGE fan. Check out Dino’s Christmas offerings here.
And get you somebody to share that music with. Someone to cozy up to. ‘Cause whether the social justice buffoons can appreciate the weather of reality or not, baby, it’s cold outside.
