On Wednesday, actress and singer Bette Midler struck out against that wretched woman, Melania Trump. Nasty, outspoken, big mouth Melania.
Geez.
What an odd position Mrs. Trump occupies; former First Lady Michelle was relentlessly hailed by the press as stylish, elegant, and beautiful. Melania gets no such treatment whatsoever, and she’s the first occupier of the White House — so far as I know — who is an actual model.
The First Lady is a knockout, and the fashion magazines are alllll crickets.
Bette Midler chirped up this week, with the following vulgar castigation of Lady Trump (which I’ve censored — the photo and the hashtag):
“The dry cleaning bill for the upholstery on Air Force One must be insane.”
I’ll forego any crass dissection of the comment.
So moving on —
Much of the twitterverse took Bette to task:
Bette’s hypocrisy is stunning. Consider these four tweets from last month:
What’s happening is all the hate and divisiveness being sowed by the person in the White House and his surrogates is coming to a head and people are in mortal danger. There will be blood on their hands.

I heard Mr Trump say these kinds of violent acts have no place in America. I want to believe him, and I pray that he can set aside his usual rhetoric and find it in his heart to protect and defend even those with whom he does not agree, for the sake of the country we all love.

The too brief investigation of allegations against Kavanaugh infuriated me. Angrily I tweeted w/o thinking my choice of words would be enraging to black women who doubly suffer, both by being women and by being black. I am an ally and stand with you; always have. And I apologize.

Guess it only counts if you’re a woman and a Democrat.
