Well, this is odd.
Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was indicted Thursday on charges of breach of trust and aggravated fraud.
According to the indictment, Mrs. Netanyahu and an employee of the government misused $100,000 of the state’s money for catered meals. The procurement violated regulations which prohibit ordering food at taxpayers’ expense when a cook is provided. She also falsely claimed no cook was employed at her residence.
Additionally, prosecutors allege she illegally paid approximately $10,000 for private chefs.
Wow. I make a virtual life decision every time I go to Arby’s.
She faces a maximum penalty of 8 years in prison.
The indictment comes at the end of a long investigation into fraud and bribery. The Prime Minister and his family have been absolute in their claims of innocence.
Former Deputy Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office, Ezra Saidoff, was also charged with fraud, breach of trust, and forgery.
A critical turn in the probe occurred last year when Ari Harow, the Israeli leader’s former chief of staff, turned state’s witness in order to avoid jail.
Mr. Netanyahu himself has also come under fire, being investigated for corruption regarding improper collusion with the press and the inappropriate acceptance of luxury gifts.
This is certainly a blight on the family. It will be interesting to see how the anti-Israel American Left reacts to this, particularly if either husband or wife is found guilty of any wrongdoing. There is, at present, a considerable opposition to the Middle Eastern state, particularly galvanized recently by President Trump’s decision to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem and the administration’s withdrawal from the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The early whispers are quite predictable:

The indictment of Sara Netanyahu on fraud charges should be an ominous message for "Princess Complicity" Ivanka Trump, who mistakenly thinks she is immune from prosecution.
She is in for a rude awakening. Her downfall is coming — and it's going to be brutal.
