The President Attends G-7, Where the 'G' Stands for 'Gender Equality'

On Saturday, Donald Trump will leave the Group of Seven summit early to embark on his trip to Singapore for the highly anticipated meeting with Kim Jong-un.

The President will hit the road…I mean, air…following an assembly on women’s empowerment.

Wait — really?

According to the International Center for Research on Women:

“The G7 (Gender) Roadmap identifies three main policy priorities: 1) women’s participation and leadership in decision-making; 2) women’s access to decent and quality jobs; and 3) eliminating violence against women and girls.”

All of the above are good things; but why is the President of the United States flying to a foreign land to discuss them with other countries?

It sounds as if the Leader of the Free World is leaving his own nation to attend something on par with a sexual harassment seminar for employees of G.E.

Isn’t this meeting of world leaders supposed to regard high-stakes presidential issues between countries? Via the Council on Foreign Relations last year:

“The G7 serves as a forum for highly industrialized democracies to coordinate economic, security, and energy policy, but the new U.S. administration (read: Trump) has stirred questions about the group’s cohesion and relevance to global governance.”

How do separate countries coordinate internationally, all for the sake of collective social engineering? This sounds like something not befitting of the schedule of the President. He’s clearly concerned with more governmental notions:

I am heading for Canada and the G-7 for talks that will mostly center on the long time unfair trade practiced against the United States. From there I go to Singapore and talks with North Korea on Denuclearization. Won’t be talking about the Russian Witch Hunt Hoax for a while!

Not so, for Trudeau:

“On January 23, 2018, Prime Minister Trudeau announced the creation of the Gender Equality Advisory Council, which will ensure that gender equality and women’s empowerment are integrated across all themes, activities and initiatives of Canada’s G7 Presidency.”

Apparently, I’m not the only one questioning this.

Brace yourselves: I’m going to quote someone surely several of you love but many of you hate. Ladies and gentleman, I give you Glenn Beck:

“When was the last time the G7 signed anything that had any real impact… like ever?

“Ok. When was the last time the G7 signed anything that had any real impact… like ever? You know what? I’ve got an even better question. What the heck is it that you guys really do up there? The original Group of Seven was formed in the 70’s after the collapse of the exchange rate in 1971. They came together in crisis, but have done a whole lot of nothing ever since. The group has now become an elaborate meeting where the “lords and ladies” can congratulate each other for how awesome they are, and snap a quick selfie with their peers before catching a flight back home. But address real problems like a collapsing Italian economy? Nah. Address the global debt crisis that WE all started in 2008? Nope. ‘Let’s get dressed up in ridiculous clothes and go on a foxhunt instead!’

“The meeting is being held in Canada this year, and get a load of what our neighbors to the North have established as this years G7 agenda: To advance gender equality, fight climate change, and promote respect for diversity and inclusion.

“Umm… laugh out loud? Thank you, Canada. Thank you for showing us how ridiculously irrelevant this event has become.”

I’m not questioning the validity of the issue. I’m only asking if it makes sense for the President to attend. But maybe Trump knows how to leverage the international opportunity:
