The past few weeks have been very dispiriting. Charlie Kirk was shot and killed simply for speaking out about ideological and political issues. I didn’t know Kirk and never watched a single second of his innumerable podcasts and speeches – I am a little too old and too conservative to be among his targeted audience – but only a totally crazed individual, like the (alleged) assassin, would want a decent person dead for developing his organization and for having political conversations with college students.
But even worse, the response of the left-wing Democrat elites and base has been to double down on their hysterical, violent, and unrepentant attitudes. Instead of showing some remorse for the murder of young man by one of their own, who was ginned up to violence by their propaganda, and vowing to, in good faith, lower the political temperature in this country, they have spent far more energy and anger complaining about the decision of a private company – spurred on, no doubt, by a legitimate and legal FCC action – to fire a has-been, money losing comedian who almost certainly deliberately lied about Kirk’s (alleged) assassin’s background to cater to the arguments of the left. And who was apparently planning to double down on his incitement.

I have now written countless columns exposing, analyzing, and decrying left-wing hysteria, radicalism, and the promotion of violence in American politics. (See here and here and here and here and here and here.) Democrats have raised the tensions in this country to Defcon 1 with their constant ferocious assaults on President Trump, his allies, and the Republican Party in general for being Nazis, Hitler, Fascists, devils, authoritarians, etc.
And let’s not forget that Donald Trump only became the Republican nominee in 2016 because of the earlier vicious Democrat assaults on other Republicans. (See Bush, McCain, and Romney.)
I do think it is important to further define who, exactly, is at fault for this rise in left-wing radicalism. I believe there are really two types of Democrats we are talking about in this conversation. There are the Democrat elites, who are leading this campaign, and largely know the truth of the matter. The Democrat elites certainly include: former President Obama and his political allies; the Clintons; much of the current Democrat leadership in the House and Senate; the Democrat Socialist leadership, including Bernie Sanders and AOC; the leadership of the Democrat Party organs; the elite MSM; the left-wing think tanks and other groups – hi, George Soros and antifa – and some others. (Not Biden, who has been senile for quite some time.) Then, there is the mass Democrat base, who just believe the relentless propaganda coming from the elites and the MSM. The former are obviously far more "guilty" for the violence erupting in America than the latter.
Unfortunately, the Democrat elite has made it clear that they don’t plan to stop inciting their base. Perhaps they are doing this because of some sort of a plan to wreck the country and lead to the implementation of a socialist and fascist utopia? Or perhaps they think it is the way to maintain their voting coalition and win national elections? Or perhaps they are themselves stuck in their doom loop, as I have theorized before? Or maybe some other reason, or a combination of reasons? I really don’t know.
But I do know that the Democrat base is not going to stop believing their elites and the MSM.
I also can predict that things are not going to end well for the base Democrats, or for the country. Because of the Biden administration’s failures and the Democrats' increasing radicalism, Donald Trump won a second term in the presidency. And he is not going anywhere. Even if the economy tanks and he is blamed for it – which we are still not seeing – and the Democrats win the House and even the Senate, Trump is going to remain president until he retires at the end of his term. The Democrats can impeach Trump all they want; it won’t do anything. (They already did it twice.) He will then retire at age 82, likely to live the rest of his days in security, especially if a Republican follows him, which is quite possible based on the Democrats' increasing radicalness.
So, what happens to people when they are revved up to the point of violence over politics, ideology, and governance, but their aims are constantly thwarted (e.g., to punish Trump and others)? Let’s put it this way – they are likely to develop mental issues. And there will be further anger and violence, both against Republicans, against their own family and friends who disagree with them, and even sometimes against themselves.
Which will inevitably lead to a response from those attacked.
In my own life, I know quite a few Democrats who have become committed radical leftists who are now angry and depressed all the time. They often aren’t speaking to friends and family (including me) because they can’t handle what has happened (especially Trump winning his second term and implementing his agenda). Sometimes they are picking physical fights with others. Some are resorting to alcoholism.
This is not going to end well. And I don’t think there is much any of the rest of us can do to head things off.
