Sad news this morning. “America’s Pastor”, the reverend Billy Graham, has passed away at the age of 99.

From the AP:

“Spokesman Mark DeMoss says Graham, who long suffered from cancer, pneumonia and other ailments, died at his home in North Carolina on Wednesday morning. He was 99.”

Graham is perhaps the most famous and influential protestant pastor of modern times. Adviser to presidents and world leaders, and one of the most recognizable faces and voices of Christianity in the world, Graham was a towering but always humble and modest figure.

I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Graham’s presence is everywhere. Indeed, on my route to Washington, D.C. this morning I’ll be taking the Billy Graham Parkway. There is so much to say about him, about his ministry and charity and good works, but first is to remember and grieve.
