Wow. We’ll have more on this overnight, but right now, it’s time for the simple fact of it. The United Kingdom has voted to LEAVE the European Union, according to the BBC’s forecast.

This is amazing, huge news and will be dominant story even here. This will highlight a host of issues for Europe as whole, many of which have been near boiling for months. Most importantly it highlights how serious the public divide on immigration and the refugee crisis actually is. The question to ask now, of course, is what happens next? Here’s part of the answer.
The Brits (and others) are weighing in on Twitter first, because that’s how we do things these days.
The delighted:
Everyone suddenly burst out singing;
I was filled with such delight
As prisoned birds must find in freedom,

We've got our country back. Thanks to all of you. #IndependenceDay

We've left behind a failed political union. We can now rejoin the world as an independent, self-governing nation.https://t.co/oqMbzLWhqO

The not delighted:
Scotland will seek independence now. Cameron's legacy will be breaking up two unions. Neither needed to happen. https://t.co/4MDj7pndcq

It's "very sad for our country, for Europe, for the world," former PM Tony Blair says after #Brexit https://t.co/src7arWwGD

This is the end of UK, not the end of EU. #brexit

And from the idiot gallery, this ridiculous, nonsensical tweet:
#Brexit It looks like the sun has finally set on the British Empire. RIP

Again, we’ll have more later. For now … discuss.
