Daily Links - June 14, 2012

Today is June 14th. Today is Flag Day, a day commemorating the adoption of the Stars and Stripes by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. Today is also the Army’s birthday. It wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese again this year, but I told it it was getting too old for that. In all seriousness, though, happy birthday soldiers, and God Bless. Also on this date, in 1968, Dr. Spock was convicted in a Boston court of aiding and abetting draft dodgers. The jury simply didn’t buy his “needs of the many vs. needs of the few” defense. On this date in 1846, the Bear Flag Revolt began in California. It was a much better revolt than the later ManBearPig Revolt. I’m super cereal! And finally, on this date in 1980, the movie “Roadie” starring Meat Loaf premiered. Reached for comment, the audience said only “why am I the only person in here?” As always, consider this an Open Thread.
