By now I assume you have heard about, if not seen, the most disgusting political ad of the 2014 midterm cycle. If you haven’t, let me explain. With the news of Ebola outbreaks in West Africa, and the first case of Ebola transmission in the United States, a merry band of left wing progressives decided to seize upon the fears of the nation and promptly blame the Republican Party and the vision of limited government for the spread of Ebola.

This morning RedState received an email from the group responsible for this reprehensible ad. In the email Erica Payne, the President of Agenda Project Action Fund – which I will get to in a moment, lays out her team’s strategy to win the election through fear mongering.

Payne described this new effort as “a multi-pronged blitzkrieg attack that lays blame for the Ebola crisis exactly where it belongs– at the feet of the Republican lawmakers.” She went on to call Republicans rabid dogs before this gem of fear mongering – “Yesterday, a health worker tested positive for the virus– now, the effects of the GOP’s fanatical hatred for our government may finally be exposed.”

Payne and her crew plan to run the 60 second ad in Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, and South Dakota, but brags that within the ad they “target more than two dozen Republicans, including almost every candidate in a competitive House or Senate race.”

This isn’t the first time Payne has resorted to such low class tactics.

Back in August the Weekly Standard called out Payne for encouraging people to go out and deface [mc_name name=’Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’R000570′ ]’s book as it hit the shelves.Payne’s new improved version of Paul’s book cover featured the conservative congressman pushing a grandmother in a wheelchair, assumedly off a cliff.

Of course this sort of behavior should be considered par for the course for someone who was the Deputy National Finance Director for the Democratic National Committee in 1996 and went on to co-found the Democracy Alliance.

According to IRS forms available at GuideStar for Agenda Project Action Fund, Payne is joined by Charles Ledley and James Mai. Ledley and Mai both used to work for Cornwall Capital, “a private investment firm focusing on special situations across a wide array of asset classes.” According to the wiki entry for Cornwall Capital, they were “one of a handful of investors in the world that correctly foresaw and profited from the subprime mortgage crisis of 2007.”

A longtime Democratic operative and a couple of guys who made big money off of the mortgage crisis came together today to make Wendy Davis’ campaign look smart by comparison.

The over the top rhetoric, deception, and outright playing upon the fears of the ignorant that was jammed packed into this minute long spot was so offensive and wrong the CDC tweeted out a statement clarifying that Ebola is the enemy.

It is a sad commentary on the state of politics that this ad was made, or even thought to be a good idea. But then, Lyndon B. Johnson dropped a bomb to make sure Goldwater would never be President … Maybe Democrats have always been this horrible.
