I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen some SJW or trans activist attempt to head-canon a historical or fictional person into a sexuality shoebox, or identity that they aren’t. Tumblr is filthy with it, and a quick search will give you loads of examples of people declaring characters you know and love as part of their camp. This is usually accompanied with little to no evidence.
The most (arguably) popular trans social justice warrior to attempt this nonsense was Brianna Wu, who declared that beloved Nintendo character, Samus Aran of Metroid, was trans herself. This is thoroughly not true, as I discuss here.
But now we’ve got a new frontier in head-canon craziness, in a new article published by the Huffington Post titled “Jesus: The First Transgender Man.”
The article was penned by a woman named Suzanne DeWitt Hall, who claims in the comments section that she was moved by the Holy Spirit to write this dumpster fire of an article. She starts off her article well enough.
“The current flap in conservative Christian circles about bathroom access is a bit baffling. They shout about God not making mistakes, as if God only works in binaries and anything falling outside of black and white cannot be from him. But we don’t have a black and white God; creation is so full of color and variation that it’s incomprehensible how we Christians struggle to pare him down to the limited palette of our individual expectations.”
In this, she is mostly correct. From a Christian perspective like mine, God is the creator of all creation both discovered and undiscovered, and the understood and not. He is the universal mathematician who can factor all variables, and create more at His discretion. That said, despite the chaotic nature of his universe, the laws that govern that creation are pretty absolute. Many factors and variables may come together to create an unusual occurrence, but you can usually find what happened with a little digging…usually.
But this is something Hall immediately dismisses in order to push forth her Biblical fan-fiction. In fact, she accuses other Christians of doing exactly what she then proceeds to do.
“The worst offenders are the Christian’s who claim to take the Bible literally. Of course they don’t actually do that; they impose their own filters on stories and phrases to fit their particular ideology. If they really did as they claim to do, they would quickly see that Jesus must be, by their own exegetical rules, the first transgender male.”
She attempts to justify this by bringing up Eve being a transgender clone of Adam due to her being extracted from Adam’s XY frame. Her reasoning is “God reached into Adam, pulled out a bit of rib bone, and grew Eve from that XY DNA into Adam’s companion. She was created genetically male, and yet trans-formed into woman.”
No, she was created female, as it says in Genesis 5:2…”male and female he created them.”
And then she gets into the meat of her article. Using the same nonsensical logic she used for Eve’s creation, she then moves on and applies it to Christ.
“Then along comes Jesus and the whole pattern is both repeated and reversed. The first couple’s refusal to cooperate is turned around by Mary’s yes, and the second act of cloning occurs. The Holy Spirit comes upon the second Eve, and the child takes flesh from her and is born. Born of her flesh. Born with XX chromosome pairing. Born genetically female, and yet trans-formed into man.”
Well fly the trans flag from the church steeples, and replace the cross with a combined male/female sign. Christ is no longer a member of the patriarchy! Die his hair neon blue, set him up with a Tumblr account, and let all with a good WiFi connection get woke.
The asininity is astounding, and I’ll clear this up quick. Jesus is NOT trans. As I said before, the universal principles that govern nature – that He set – are pretty absolute. In order for a woman to give birth, she first needs the seed of a male to impregnate her. Hall completely dismisses that the Holy Spirit was that seed in this scenario, and says simply that he “came upon her,” and that an “act of cloning” occurred.
Jesus is not a clone of Mary, just as any child is not a clone of their parent. Christ is the offspring of Mary, and God. While the impregnation wasn’t sexual, the laws of nature were still followed. There was a seed given to Mary who bore Christ in her womb, gave birth, and raised Him as her son. One thing led to another, and the man changed universal law at his Father’s behest.
And this is just the biological explanation for how things happened. I didn’t even get into the prophetic necessity for Jesus to be a male, which would take a whole article of its own to explain. The tl;dr of it being that He was foretold to be male, and a King would be needed to inherit the throne of David.
What really gets me about this isn’t that trans people have a headcanon about characters they like being just like them. We impose ourselves on characters all the time so that we can fit into their shoes all the better. What bothers me is that the trans community continuously tries to force us to come along with them.
Be it by law, policy, or “the Holy Spirit told me to tell you Christ was trans, and therefore this comes down from the highest authority and so is true” – that’s blasphemy by the way – the louder parts of the trans community want you to live in their world too, and will do what it take to see that you do.
You will be made to care.
But as I wrote before when Wu tried this nonsense, it’s not about the trans community at large. It’s sure as hell not about equality. It’s about what said trans person can do for themselves. It’s all about how that person feels. Not about what is true, but about acceptance of a world view they know everyone else is rejecting based on fact.
It doesn’t matter that a girl may be raped in a bathroom. Sandra, now going as Steve, needs you to think she’s a he. That girl’s safety is second to Sandra-Steve’s feelings.
It doesn’t matter that a business owner has a certain uniform style for men and women at his store. Greg feels like a woman, and wants to dress as one. So Mr. Businessman must let Greg do so or else pay a high fine somewhere in the thousands.
It doesn’t matter that Jesus was male. Hall needs Christ to conform to her worldview so she can feel good about having it while maintaining her “Christianity.” It doesn’t matter that she’s blaspheming, God needs to heel to her outlook.
All of that nonsense can go straight to Hell.
