Here's some good news out of California, for a change: Federal agents, working with local law enforcement, have largely taken the dangerous, Indian-origin "Bishnoi Gang" off the board. At least a dozen goblins in California are now looking at bars from the inside, and more members of the gang have been busted in other locations, including elsewhere in the USA, Canada and Europe. Sharp work.
Federal agents crushed the California arm of a vicious transnational organized crime syndicate in series of stunning raids Tuesday that saw the arrest of at least 11 accused criminals in the Golden State — and over a dozen more in the US, Canada and Europe.
Los Angeles federal agents led the global takedown of the India-based Bishnoi Gang, a fearsome global mob blamed for extortion, drug dealing and the assassination of political figures, industrialists, actors and musicians in North America and India.
As of 7 a.m., agents had conducted at least 50 raids in the US, Canada and Europe, taking at least two dozen suspects into custody.
There are a few gang members still on the run. The list of seized weapons and drugs is impressive.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement seized more than 2,200 pounds of cocaine and heroin, $40,000 cash and a dozen firearms.
At least five defendants were arrested in the Bay Area and at least eight were arrested in the LA area. Others were busted in Indiana and Georgia, along with three in Canada and one in Spain.
Twenty-three 23 search warrants were executed in the Sacramento area and 11 in the LA area.
Authorities are also hunting seven fugitives in the US, two in India and one in Europe.
“The defendants charged in today’s indictment are alleged to have engaged in some of the most violent and barbaric activities we’ve seen,” said top LA prosecutor Bill Esayli.
Bill Essayli, the First Assistant United States attorney for the Central District of California, put out an email announcing the busts, and included three of the indictments. His email reads in part:
Transnational criminal gangs who spread fear, drugs, and violence will face the full force of justice and the weight of the federal government,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli. “Working together, law enforcement in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia are determined to target and dismantle these criminal organizations wherever they operate. There is no safe harbor for these thugs.
Today's reports would seem to prove that true.

One of the California busts was, oddly, a SoCal Metro worker:

That's a bit of a head-shaker, but presumably the now-defunct gang gained some advantage from having this goblin in the position he was in. This appears to be the culmination of several months of work. While several members of the gang remain on the run, it would seem that several heads of this criminal Hydra have been successfully removed.
Mr. Essayli, in his email, presented copies of the indictments charging the goblins with multiple charges, including RICO violations, drug and weapons charges and more. You can see the three indictments at these links. Stay tuned; this is a developing story.
