It seems that scarcely a day goes by anymore when we don't receive a report of an American being attacked by a criminal illegal alien who found shelter in one of our "sanctuary" jurisdictions. The latest comes to us from Virginia, where their recently-installed Governor, Abigail Spanberger, is busily transforming the state into a leftist's paradise, including said sanctuary policies — and now a Virginia woman has been attacked by an illegal alien who may very well have been drawn to Arlington, Virginia, with the promise of just these policies.
Fox News' Bill Melugin has the story:
BREAKING: DHS confirms that the suspect arrested for attempting to rape a woman while she was waiting for a rideshare in Arlington County, VA is a Guatemalan illegal alien who entered the US as a gotaway & has at least 25 prior charges in the county going back to 2020.

The post continues:
Police in Arlington County arrested 28-year-old Luzvin Orvando Garcia Moran for the attempted rape after they say he approached the woman early Sunday morning while she was waiting to be picked up, then shoved her against a wall where he physically and sexually assaulted her until two good Samaritans intervened.
DHS says his prior charges in Arlington County include nine counts of being intoxicated in public, assault and battery, disorderly conduct, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, and several probation violations.
Setting aside for a moment the fact that this goblin was in the United States illegally, how is a guy like this walking around loose? Even an American citizen with a rap sheet like this, one would think, would draw some scrutiny from a sentencing judge after several charges, and think, "You know, maybe this guy should draw the maximum." But it's likely, although not described in Mr. Melugin's post, that Moran's previous offenses were plea-bargained down, putting him back on the street.
And, of course, the fact remains that he shouldn't have been here in the first place. Also in Mr. Melugin's post is the statement from the Department of Homeland Security:
“Virginia's sanctuary policies allowed this illegal alien to go on a crime spree,” said Acting DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “Despite prior arrests by law enforcement, this criminal was released from jail multiple times before he went on to commit this attempted heinous rape. We are calling on Arlington County sanctuary politicians and Governor Abigail Spanberger to commit to not releasing this criminal from jail back into our communities. How many more times must they release criminals into our neighborhoods to create more innocent victims?”
Apparently, the answer to that last question is "many more times."

This is what sanctuary jurisdictions have wrought. It's not enough that these jurisdictions protect people who are in the country illegally; it's that they attract illegal aliens, and since the selfsame jurisdictions most likely to have and brag about their "sanctuary" policies are also the jurisdictions most likely to have revolving-door justice systems, they become powerful magnets. They attract illegal alien criminals, like Luzvin Orvando Garcia Moran.
The politicians who shout their "compassion" for illegal aliens from the rooftops are enabling people like this, and enabling attacks like what happened in this case.
