Earlier in the week, I reported that Iran's state television had aired an ominous threat, using video from the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt on President Trump; that threat said, in essence, "he missed - we won't."
Threats like this, as I wrote at the time, have to be taken seriously.

No matter how screwed up, no matter how bedeviled by sanctions and by its own people, Iran still is a nation-state with all of the resources of a nation-state. Worse, it's a hostile nation-state that has almost certainly infiltrated operatives into the United States, very likely during the Biden administration's shameful non-enforcement of immigration law and border security. It wouldn't be surprising to learn that some of the Iranians who have entered the country are trained operators who may be much more effective than Thomas Crooks.
On Friday, Fox News reported that the United States Secret Service is aware of the threat. I should hope so.
This comes as news from Iran, and that country's ongoing mass demonstrations against the mullahs and their theocratic rule seems to be cut off at the source, which is unsettling at the least. The regime has come down on the protestors with a heavy hand; that much we do know.
The threat comes amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran, and as the Iranian people rise up against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's brutal regime.
The protests stemmed from the cloistered Middle Eastern country's economic crisis, which has become increasingly dire as the value of the Rial, Iran's currency, has plummeted.
The regime has cracked down hard on the protesters, with state-sanctioned killings estimated to be in the thousands.
The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency announced that 1,847 of the dead were protesters and 135 were members of Iran’s security forces. Other reports say the death toll is more than 3,000 people, Fox News Digital previously reported.
For the last few days, much of the reporting we have been seeing, including the videos of Iranian city streets packed with protestors, has gone ominously quiet. The United States has halted visa applications from Iran and several other nations.

The War Department is moving an aircraft carrier task group closer to the region, as well. That has, since World War 2, historically been a message from the United States to whatever tinpot dictator that the USA wants to send a message to, to pipe down, or we'll show you the "what else." It's not at all clear if that message will get through to the mullahs in Tehran, or wherever they are now.
President Trump has been evasive when asked about any plans to intercede in Iran militarily, and that is precisely how he should be; this is a case of "tell them nothing. When it's over, tell them who won." Meanwhile, the president, on Thursday, indicated that he had information that the killings in Iran had, for the time being, been halted.
On Thursday afternoon, Trump told the media that "very important sources on the other side" informed him that Iran has halted the execution of protesters, but said he is keeping an eye on the situation.
On Friday, the president announced on TRUTH Social that hundreds of scheduled executions had been halted.
It's a real mess, and information from inside Iran is growing scarce. We will continue to watch and bring you updates as soon as reliable information is available.
