New: Trump Now Sending 100-Plus CBP Agents to Twin Cities Amid Protests

The Trump administration seems pretty determined not to let protestors and rioters own the streets of Minneapolis, and even less inclined to let the mobs have a heckler's veto over federal immigration law. Minneapolis is now the Schwerpunkt of the ongoing roundup of illegal aliens, and now the Trump administration is surging another 100 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents into the city to get things under control.

This could get spicy.

The Trump administration is deploying more than 100 additional U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and officers to Minnesota following the fatal shooting of a woman during an immigration enforcement protest, The New York Times reported Thursday.

Here's the interesting part of this new deployment:

The Department of Homeland Security is shifting personnel from Chicago and New Orleans to bolster federal operations in the Twin Cities, the report said.

DHS is also pausing some activities in Chicago to support the Minnesota deployment and plans to transfer nonlethal equipment from Chicago to the region, the Times reported, citing documents it had obtained.

The increased CBP presence is expected to last through the weekend, with agents scheduled to return to their home stations on Sunday. DHS declined to comment on operational details.

Minneapolis, it seems, is now the focal point. If the Department of Homeland Security is taking agents from other areas, from other operations, to get the Twin Cities under control, it seems likely a very specific message is being sent: Whether a mob of urban liberals likes it or not, whether Mayor Jacob Frey likes it or not, whether Governor Tim Walz likes it or not, illegal aliens in Minneapolis and Minnesota in general are going to be tracked down, detained, and deported. That's their job, and that's a legitimate role of the federal government.

The acting director of ICE would seem to have just that in mind.

DHS has said it has already ramped up its presence in Minnesota, deploying roughly 2,000 law enforcement officers to the Twin Cities, and has pledged to continue operations despite opposition from local officials.

ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons said Thursday that agents briefly paused enforcement efforts after the shooting but have since resumed operations.

“We're going to keep doing the work,” Lyons said.

This is what we voted for.

Also, if this operation, if this renewed attention to actually enforcing our borders and immigration law, is to succeed, if we are to see a re-establishment of federal authority in one of the very few functions that genuinely belong to the federal government, then this operation in Minnesota has to go through to completion. This has to succeed, pour encourager les autres, if for no other reason. That's the lesson: Mobs taking to the streets won't achieve a heckler's veto over federal agents carrying out the duties that by statute and by oath are theirs to do.

Watch Minneapolis. Watch Minnesota. For the next few days, the pattern for what goes on in this process, which we all voted for, this city, this state, will set the stage for what happens next.

Editor’s Note: Democrat politicians and their radical supporters will do everything they can to interfere with and threaten ICE agents enforcing our immigration laws.
