Italy Takes Down Massive $8M Scam Funding Hamas: 9 Ringleaders Arrested

Italy is one of the few nations in Western Europe to have a competent leader, in Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. She's the Iron Lady of Italy - but previous governments have been far too much like the invertebrate governments of much of the rest of the continent, leaving Italy, like much of Europe, with a huge influx of "migrants," as they call them, from the Islamic world. Europe is committing ethnic and religious suicide on the installment plan, and now we learn that they are indirectly funding their own demise.

How? By fraud. Much like the Somalian community in Mogadishu - excuse me, Minneapolis, Minnesota, we learn that there has been a massive charity fraud in Italy, to the tune of 7 million Euros, or a little over $8 million. Worse, the money was being funneled to Hamas. Italy has busted nine of the ringleaders.

Italian authorities arrested nine people linked to three charitable organizations on suspicion of raising millions of euros in funds for the Palestinian militant group Hamas, anti-terrorism prosecutors said in a statement Saturday.

The suspects are accused of sending about 7 million euros ($8.2 million) to “associations based in Gaza, the Palestinian territories, or Israel, owned, controlled, or linked to Hamas,” the statement said.

That's the amount that Italian authorities know about. If similar operations right here in the United States are any indication, the picture is liable to be a great deal bigger than already known.

Here's the onion:

Among those arrested was Mohammad Hannoun, president of the Palestinian Association in Italy, prosecutors said, describing him as the “head of the Italian cell of the Hamas organization.”

The European Union has Hamas listed on its terror list.

According to Italian prosecutors, who collaborated with other EU countries in the probe, the illegal funds were delivered through “triangulation operations” via bank transfers or through organizations based abroad to associations based in Gaza, which have been declared illegal by Israel for their ties to Hamas.

This prompts a couple of questions.

First: If this Mohammad Hannoun was known to be the "head of the Italian cell" of Hamas, why was he in Italy? This seems like a guy that should be at the very top of Italy's "deport him now" list, along with, very likely, his eight counterparts. Of course, now that they are facing the Italian justice system, we can hope for a prison term and then deportation, but the fact is that Italy was ill-advised to have let this goblin into Italy in the first place. Now that they've caught him, it seems appropriate to (after his prison term) loft him back into Gaza, with a good old Italian boot to the seat of his pants.

Second: Only nine people pulled this off? That seems unlikely. The good news here is that goblins like this don't have any concept of omertà, much as you think that they would have picked that idea up from being in Italy for any length of time. These people generally sing like birds when they are caught. Let's hope that these goblins give up more, similar rings operating in Europe, because it's for sure and for certain that there are more. Bet on it.

Then, there's this:

There was no immediate comment from the suspects or the associations.

You don't say.
