New: ICE Sounds Alarm As Illinois Frees Violent Criminals

What are we going to do about Illinois?

Blue states in general are wellsprings of dumb ideas, but Illinois officials' refusal to abide by federal immigration detainers is putting people, American citizens, in real danger - and they are doing this, it seems certain, in a knee-jerk opposition to all things Trump. Whether that's the case or not, the result is thousands of dangerous illegal aliens being set free to walk the streets, forcing Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) to find them, as it were, out in the wilds.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is warning that Illinois officials are releasing violent criminal illegal aliens despite active immigration detainers, a move the agency says is putting the public at risk.
In the letter shared with Fox News Digital, Todd Lyons, ICE's senior official performing the duties of director, said Illinois has "tens of thousands of criminal illegal aliens" in custody – individuals who, he noted, have committed crimes ranging from murder and rape to child pornography and armed robbery.
Lyons said these offenders "should be swiftly removed from the United States … and not be returned to our streets to wreak havoc on law-abiding citizens."

As long as the goblins in question are in custody (the nature of that custody isn't clear), they aren't as big a problem, but the nature of Illinois and Chicago's systems being what they are, it seems likely that these people will sooner or later be released back onto the streets, without even a heads-up to ICE.

And there are some seriously dangerous goblins among the ranks of the illegal aliens in Illinois.

According to data provided by ICE, Illinois has released 1,768 criminal aliens with active detainers since January 2025. ICE said the crimes tied to those offenders include homicides, assaults, burglaries, weapons offenses and sexual-predatory crimes.
The agency also said another 4,015 criminal aliens with pending detainers remain in state or local custody, including individuals linked to 51 homicides and more than 800 sexual-predatory offenses.
ICE provided a list of some of the detainers that were not honored, requiring federal officers to track down offenders after their release.
They include Victor Manuel Mendoza-Garcia, convicted of three counts of aggravated kidnapping; Juan Morales Martinez, tied to a fatal vehicle crash; and Amilcar Waldo Gonzalez-Jimenez, convicted of two counts of criminal sexual assault. In each case, ICE says local agencies failed to notify the agency before releasing the individuals.

1,768. Remember that number. That is the number of dangerous criminals, illegal aliens, who could have been very easily handed over to ICE for deportation. These are people reportedly tied to murder, assault, burglaries, weapons charges, and sex crimes. These are people who should have been handed over to ICE by Illinois authorities and deported forthwith, but they weren't. Is this a state-wide exhibition of Trump Derangement Syndrome? Is this because it's a Trump policy to enforce immigration laws that were ignored through the Biden years? Or is it just a staggering indifference to the health and safety, the liberty and property of the people of the State of Illinois?

My money's on "all of the above."

Now, to find these people and get them out of the country, ICE will be required to go out into the communities, to track down these illegal aliens, in a process that is more dangerous for ICE agents, for the innocent people of those communities, and even for the goblins themselves - all so Illinois Democrat officials can thwart a primary Trump campaign promise and a second-term priority. That's political malfeasance of the first water.
