Happening Now? Fed Prosecutors Reportedly to Launch Investigation Into Soros Orgs

Could we finally be about to witness the long-awaited comeuppance for George Soros, his son Alex, and their Open Society Foundations?

That remains to be seen, but reports on Thursday indicate that Justice Department officials are in receipt of directives to start investigations of the Open Society Foundations. This has not yet been confirmed by the Justice Department.

But we can hope!

Multiple top federal prosecutors at U.S. attorney's offices around the country received a directive Monday to prepare to launch investigations into the Open Society Foundations, a group funded by the billionaire Democratic donor George Soros, multiple sources confirmed to ABC News.

The order from Aakash Singh, a senior official in Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche's office, was sent to U.S. attorney's offices in at least seven states, the sources confirmed, including California, New York, Illinois, Michigan and Maryland.

The letter lists potential charges prosecutors could take under consideration as they prepare to investigate the Open Society Foundations, ranging from material support to terrorism, arson, wire fraud and racketeering, the sources said.

The Justice Department didn't exactly deny the reports; neither did they come right out and confirm them.

"This DOJ, along with our hard-working and dedicated U.S. Attorneys, will always prioritize public safety and investigate organizations that conspire to commit acts of violence or other federal violations of law," a spokesperson for the Justice Department told ABC News when asked about the directive.

And, of course, the Open Society Foundations issued what we might call a "categorical denial" of any involvement with terrorists.

A spokesperson for Open Society Foundations, in a statement to ABC News, said, "The Open Society Foundations unequivocally condemn terrorism and do not fund terrorism. Our activities are peaceful and lawful, and our grantees are expected to abide by human rights principles and comply with the law."

Here's the thing; these days, a Venn Diagram drawn on the two sides "Democrats" and "People who encourage political violence" has a great deal of overlap. Democrat leaders are coming right out and calling ICE agents the Gestapo, calling President Trump a tyrant, a dictator, a Nazi, and everything else. It seems like it would be difficult to provide donations to any Democrat without running afoul of one who advocates for political violence in one way or another.

President Trump Calls for 'RICO' Investigation of the Soros Funding Network

The federal government has been providing support for the investigations into Charlie Kirk's assassination, the Wednesday attack on an ICE facility, as well as conducting investigations into groups like Antifa. Since Antifa has now been designated a domestic terrorist group, we can confidently expect those investigations to pick up.

It's not inconceivable that this could be a first step into a new round of investigations into political donors for left-wing causes. President Trump and Vice President Vance have both called out George Soros by name in interviews and statements following (in particular) the killing of Charlie Kirk.

Stay tuned; if any such investigation proceeds and starts uncovering anything actionable, believe you, I'll be right here reporting on it with great joy.
