Just when you think the "Squad" members in general, and Rep. Ilhan Oman (D-Somalia) in particular, couldn't get any more obnoxious, they ascend to a new rung on the ladder of obnoxiousness. These people are hysterical, they are histrionic, and many of them are sitting on a mysteriously massive net worth.
Case in point: On Monday, ironically on Labor Day, my colleague Bonchie told us of Rep. Omar's braggadocious challenge to all and sundry to "look into her finances." That didn't exactly go the way she wanted.

Bonchie writes:
The rank corruption of so many members of the House of Representatives is hardly a new development, and over the last several years, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has added her chapter to the book. In a recent interview with Business Insider, the controversial Minnesota congresswoman, who has been accused of marrying her brother to skirt immigration laws, complained about a "coordinated, right-wing disinformation campaign" regarding her finances.
She then challenged them to check her "public financial statements." As you'll see, that turned out to be a very bad idea because the Free Beacon did just that, and what they found was damning.

Earlier this year, Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) complained to Business Insider she's been the subject of a "coordinated right-wing disinformation campaign" claiming she's worth millions of dollars. "Maybe try checking my public financial statements," she said, "and you will… pic.twitter.com/hPWq1eOkSJ
Thumbnail: Rep. Omar is very wealthy indeed, with a net worth estimated to be as high as tens of millions. That's pretty good for a relatively modest congressional salary. But here's the kicker: Bonchie goes on to mention Omar's husband - no, not the brother/husband, but her newer one, Tim Mynett, who is a notorious Democrat money-man. Now, Omar tries to wave that off as her husband's money - and as Bonchie points out, that's not how marriage works in America. It's certainly not how it works in Somalia, in which country she wouldn't have any access to money or any opportunity to spend it on anything.
Here's the fun bit: All this has set someone on the trail, that someone being the greatly admired DataRepublican, who immediately went on the trail of Omar and Mynett's finances.

Ilhan Omar's wealth headlines ($30M net worth 👀) are dominating today's feeds. But behind that story is someone far less visible: her husband, Tim Mynett.

The post continues:
Not the ex with the bizarre "married her brother" rumor. This one is far more interesting, and far more connected.
For nearly two decades, Mynett has been the quiet operator raising millions, plugging into D.C.’s progressive networks, and eventually pivoting into global business ventures.

Isn't it remarkable how leftist politicians - and Ilhan Omar is somewhere to the left of Che Guevara - always shout about the need to tax the rich, to soak the productive, to smash capitalism and break up the fortunes of millionaires (until they become one) and billionaires - but they also always seem to grow mysteriously rich. Omar, in particular, could be the primary villain in an Ayn Rand novel: A corrupt, twisted looter, a parasite on the country who has never contributed anything but hot air, who trades not in ideas but in pull. Her immigration was deeply questionable, although she is a citizen now. Her personal background is also suspect, as her father was a colonel in the army of Communist Somalia, a country that had a human-rights record that made Fidel Castro look like a piker.
She has, through marriage and (likely) through graft, made herself wealthy, supposedly serving a country she seems to hate. And, sadly, her Minneapolis-area district will likely keep sending her back to Congress for as long as she cares to be there.
