Russia Collusion Fail, Round Two: WSJ Blows It

Remember when The Wall Street Journal was a reputable paper? That was, of course, before the Russian collusion mess.

Now, it looks like the formerly reputable WSJ has just joined the rest of the legacy media in having Stage IV Trump Derangement Syndrome. Earlier this week, as Democrats and leftists (but I repeat myself) waited with breath that was surely bated, the WSJ dropped what was supposed to be the next smoking gun Trump gotcha - a letter that the president reportedly wrote to Jeffrey Epstein. There was just one problem: They didn't have any such letter.

It dropped. The Wall Street Journal dropped their much-anticipated Trump-Epstein story, and if there was a word that goes beyond underwhelming, it would reside there. It was the biggest dud since Geraldo opened Al Capone’s vault. Here’s the gist: Trump purportedly wrote Jeffrey Epstein, the dead disgraced New York financier, a message for his 50th birthday in 2003.

It was “bawdy,” accompanied by doodles and the like. We don’t know if this letter even exists because the Journal didn’t publish it. They also told White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt that they didn’t even possess it. The ghost of the Russian collusion hoax has reappeared. Yet, we know why this was a trash story, besides the media having an elite track record in getting their scoops wrong about this man.

Nothingburgers must be a regular menu item in The Wall Street Journal's employee cafeteria. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wasted no time trashing this non-story:

The post continues:

The WSJ refused to show us the letter and conceded they don’t even have it in their possession when we asked them to verify the alleged document they’re basing their ENTIRE fake story on.

When has President Trump ever spoken like the conversation alleged in the fake WSJ story? That’s not at all how he speaks or writes.

The WSJ knowingly published false information to smear the President of the United States.

As I said at the podium today, there is a coordinated Hoax by the Democrats and Fake News to smear President Trump — as we’ve seen throughout both of his terms.

But here's where it gets fun: RealClearPolitics National Political Correspondent Susan Crabtree has the names behind this latest cluster foul-up.

Susan Crabtree continues:

Main Justice was Glenn Simpson’s wife’s publication. Simpson founded Fusion GPS, which was paid by Hillary Clinton/the DNC (through Perkins Coie) to produce the Steele Dossier at the center of the Russian hoax against Trump.

Both Glenn Simpson and his wife, Mary Jacoby, worked for the Wall Street Journal before launching their own enterprises.

Trump is now suing the Wall Street Journal over the “blockbuster” letter story, arguing that it’s bogus and they never showed him it so he could comment.

But wait! There's more!

My colleagues Susie Moore and Joe Cunningham covered aspects of this debacle as it unfolded over the past day or so:

Spoiler Alert: The Wall Street Journal's Damning Trump-Epstein Scoop Is... a Birthday Letter

Now, raise your tray tables and seat backs to the upright and locked position, and we'll bring this thing in for a landing.

A letter that the reporter can't produce, that The Wall Street Journal apparently does not have in its possession, was touted as the latest "We'll get Trump this time!" It wasn't. But the reporter in question has connections to not only the fake Steele Dossier, but also to the phony-baloney prosecutions of then former President Trump - prosecutions that America's premier legal mind (and liberal Democrat) Alan Dershowitz thought were hot garbage.

This is pretty much the definition of journalistic malpractice.

The old saying applies: "If you strike at the king, you must kill him." When it comes to President Trump, the left has done anything but that; they are whiffing, time and again.

Editor's Note: The mainstream media continues to deflect, gaslight, spin, and lie.
