On Sunday, a young Texas woman, Ava Moore, was fatally injured while kayaking on Grapevine Lake when she was struck by a jet ski. The driver of the jet ski fled the scene, aided by a male companion.

On Tuesday, Grapevine and Dallas police, aided by Texas Game Wardens, arrested the woman and her accomplice. The woman driving the jet ski was determined to be in the United States illegally.

Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, 21, was arrested Tuesday morning at a home in the 4700 block of Kildare Avenue in Oak Cliff.

Police from Grapevine and Dallas, along with Texas Game Wardens and federal agents, surrounded the blue, two-story home around 11 a.m., using drones to look inside the windows.

They ultimately took Gonzalez into custody.

Immigration Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security agents were also part of the massive law enforcement presence when Gonzalez was arrested.

In Gonzalez's arrest affidavit, it states she is being charged with second-degree felony manslaughter.

The immigration status of Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez's companion, also under arrest, is not known.

Grapevine Police announced another man, 21-year-old, Maikel Coello Perozo, who is believed to be the driver of a blue Toyota Corolla that fled the scene with Gonzalez, was arrested on Tuesday as well.

Police say Perozo crashed into two cars while trying to help Gonzalez escape from the lake. The two then got out of the car and ran from the scene.

The local Fox News affiliate, on its X account, released an image of the accused and of the victim, 18-year-old Ava Moore.

Fox News' Bill Melugin, who covers immigration issues for Fox, also took to X to note that Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez was an illegal alien from Venezuela, but also to note that Ava Moore was a student at the United States Air Force Academy. Her death, we must note, was caused by someone who was not in the United States legally, who is from a country unfriendly to the United States, and who never should have been here.

We do not yet know when Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez entered the United States illegally. It's a safe bet, given the Trump administration's clampdown on the southern border, that she entered during the non-enforcement of border control and immigration law during the Biden administration.

This event, granted, would have been a tragedy no matter the immigration status of anyone involved. Fleeing the scene of a fatal accident is a serious crime, after all, no matter who perpetrates it. Fleeing from police and aiding a fugitive are also serious crimes. Even so, it's even more egregious, and must be even more hurtful to the family of Ava Moore, to note that this crime would not have happened were our southern border under control for the last four years, and were our immigration laws being enforced.

Ava Moore, from what little we know of her, seems to have been a promising young American. Now, very likely due to the inaction of the Biden administration, her name is another on the list of people who would be with us today were it not for the Biden administration's failure.

Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
