That... person, James Comey, seems to have started a trend with the whole "86 47" thing he did happened to come across on a totally random beach he was walking along. We all know what's meant by "86 47," and I'd bet my favorite ATV and my favorite fishing rod that James Comey knows, too.

It's catching on. On Saturday, Newsmax host Todd Starnes took to his X account to bring us a video of unhinged lefties in Wichita, Kansas, of all places, screeching "86 47."

Note that about 30 seconds in, one of these nuts crosses in front of the camera bearing a cartoon effigy of President Trump, which appears to be laced with arrows or darts. This is while the shouting of "86 47" is going on in the background.

Let's set aside, for the moment, that it appears to be a lovely, sunny Saturday in Wichita, and these people seem to have nothing better to do with their time than standing on the sidewalk screeching hysterically. Let's note instead that every one of these people is arguably guilty of violating 18 U.S. Code § 871 - "Threats against President and successors to the Presidency." That statute states in part (emphasis added by me):

Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

The bolded part is the relevant portion: knowingly and willfully making a threat. We all know what they mean by "86 47."

Any. Such. Threat.

Now, it's anyone's guess if anyone from the Secret Service will sit down and have a little chat with any of these people. The Secret Service would be hurrying from hither to yon constantly were they to try to interview every one of these nuts.

The people doing the screaming, though, if they're serious, should understand just what they're getting themselves into. They may just be screaming as an emotional catharsis, with no intention of actually acting, but if even 10 percent of them are serious... If even 10 percent of them were willing to engage in actual, no-kidding political violence, they have no idea how that would end up. 

It wouldn't end up anything like they think it would.

We do indeed live in interesting times. Nothing will probably come out of this bunch of nuts wasting oxygen in Wichita, of course. It's the quiet ones - always the quiet ones - that we need to watch out for.
