Unintended consequences are unintended. The Biden family arguably did the Democratic Party inestimable damage by keeping befuddled old Joe in office way past his best-by date; the Democratic Party did itself even more damage by 1) anointing Joe's (or the autopen's) chosen successor, Kamala "Queen of Word Salads" Harris as the candidate without a single primary voter being asked what he or she (sorry, Dems, those are the only options) thought. That's a good thing for the country.
New York University professor and leftist podcaster Scott Galloway, in a recent episode of his podcast "Pivot," got the first part right. The second? Not so much.

NYU professor and liberal podcast host Scott Galloway criticized the Biden family this week, saying its "narcissism" has hurt the country.
During a recent episode of his "Pivot" podcast that he co-hosts with journalist Kara Swisher, the pundit argued that the way former President Biden botched the 2024 election for the Democratic Party will be his "legacy."
Speaking of how Biden ensured former Vice President Kamala Harris would be his replacement on the campaign trail last year, he said, "The reality is she was not a strong candidate and President Biden and his family’s narcissism have severely (expletive deleted) this country. Severely. And that is his legacy."
So far he's right. And he even had a notion as to how they should have proceeded after old Joe's shockingly bad debate performance.
"I was Saturday afternoon quarterbacking," he said. "I said have a mini ‘Shark Tank’-like primary with the best eight candidates – go from two debates with eight, then to four, then to two. It would have dominated the media cycle."
Galloway added that Harris was "not a great candidate," though he praised her efforts in trying to replace her boss. "I think she did a good job given the hand she was dealt with, but this is a candidate who didn’t make it to Iowa four years earlier, which says to me America didn’t think of her as a great candidate."
And that's where he goes wrong.
Kamala Harris didn't do a good job. She did a perfectly awful job. She picked the worst possible running mate in Tim "Great Walz of China." She is an execrable public speaker. In their one debate, Donald Trump absolutely defenestrated her. Her campaign staff was the worst; recent reports indicate they didn't even tell her how bad their internal polling numbers really were. It's all coming out now, and the Democrats are spinning like gyroscopes trying to put lipstick on the pig that was Kamala Harris's campaign.

But, as my grandfather was fond of saying, you can't polish a cow pie.
Of course, none of this hurt the country. What would have hurt the country, possibly beyond repair, would have been four years of Kamala Harris in the Oval Office.
I remember back in the early '80s, there was a saying going around: "It took a Carter to give us a Reagan." It applies again now: "It took a Biden/Harris to give us a Trump." That's not hurting the country, Professor Galloway. That's saving it. But there's nevertheless a precautionary tale in all this: As bad as Kamala Harris was, and as much as the Biden family narcissism and self-absorption hurt the Democrat ticket, 70-odd million people still voted for the Democrat ticket. President Trump swept the swing states and won the electoral vote count easily, but it could have very well gone the other way.
Remember that. The midterms are coming. And then, the 2028 election season will begin in earnest. Gird your loins, folks, because this is a fight that will never be over.
