On some issues, there just doesn't seem to be an argument so dumb that Democrats and leftists (but I repeat myself) won't keep trotting it out. In some cases, their arguments aren't just dumb; they are counter to reality. Not that reality is any bar to a good accusation from those on the left, but some are more ridiculous than others.
And, of course, one of the dumbest of the dumb is the notion of allowing boys and men to compete in girls' and women's sports. I don't have a dog in this fight personally; but the arguments from the left are counter to basic biology, and as someone with a grounding in science and, specifically, in biology, the arguments from the left on "transgender women" in sports are so stupid and so counter to reality as to beggar description.
That hasn't stopped Illinois Democrats from trotting out the same old tired horse squeeze to try to support this lunacy.
As Illinois faces a growing political divide over the issue of trans athletes in girls' sports, the state's lawmakers addressed the topic in a heated back-and-forth on the floor of the state capital on Wednesday.
The state's General Assembly members broke out into aggressive arguments over the issue during the session. One Democrat member even made the unsubstantiated argument that laws to keep trans athletes out of girls' sports would result in genital inspections of children. That argument was initially used by U.S. House Democrats who voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act in January.
The Illinois lawmaker to repeat the unsubstantiated claim was Rep. Kelly Cassidy of Chicago, who accused GOP colleagues of being "obsessed with children's genitalia."
"My colleagues on the other side of the aisle feel the need to share their obsession with children's genitalia once again," Cassidy said. "We are grown adults, and we are picking on kids because you are obsessed with children's genitalia."
Oh, for the luvva Pete. This has nothing to do with children's genitalia. This is a perfectly sick and disgusting argument. This isn't the 17th century. Every one of these kids has a birth certificate. Every one of these kids has had their sex (words have gender, people have sex) identified at birth. Every one of these kids has either an X and a Y chromosome, or two X chromosomes. Every one of these kids is either a boy or a girl, and which they are is not a matter for argument; it's been known since their birth, if not before.
These are facts.
The other fact that remains is that it's hideously unfair to allow boys to play on girls' sports teams, but the left keeps arguing for it.
Cassidy's statement was then pushed back upon by Republican Rep. Blaine Wilhour of Southern Illinois. Wilhour called out the state's Democrats as a whole for supporting gender transitions for minors and pointed out a recent track meet in Naperville, Illinois, that sparked national outrage after a biological male won a girls' race.
"These folks up here accuse people of being obsessed with kids' genitalia because they have the audacity to believe that boys should not be competing in girls' sports. But I just want to point out here that there is only one party, the Democrat Party, that is supporting and encouraging minor children to use life-altering and often unreversable hormone blockers," Wilhour said.
Blaine Wilhour also took to his X account to argue the point:
Letting boys compete in girls’ sports isn’t “compassion,” @Naperville203 — it’s exploitation. It’s abuse. It’s disgusting.@realDonaldTrump should freeze every cent of federal funding until schools protect actual girls. Enough is enough.@Awake_IL @Riley_Gaines… pic.twitter.com/T0isIhX0MA

Enough is enough, indeed, but despite President Trump's efforts to amend the enforcement of Title IX regulations, this idiocy is still practiced and still defended by the left.

Democrat state Rep. Anna Stava-Murray, who represents Naperville, defended the trans student who won the race.
"I find it disgusting when adults try to bully children, and that's what's happening right now," Stava-Murray said.
"We have adults, including adults on the House floor, who want to take a moment that that child trained for and use it as a political talking point, that's disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourselves. That child did not ask to be in national media. That child's parents didn't consent to that."
That child and that child's parents should have known that they would draw media attention by cheating. That child's parents had to know that this controversy was ongoing, and it's a safe bet that they encouraged their kid to cheat anyway. And the only people trying to bully children are the ones who are bullying girls and women to step quietly aside and consent to boys and men taking awards, trophies, and scholarships that, by rights, should go to girls and women. Actual girls and women. With two X chromosomes.
There is no situation in the real world in which this is anything but horribly unfair for the girls in Illinois schools who have worked and trained for their sport of choice. These young ladies have trained, exercised, worked, sweated, and pushed for each new gain, only to see a mediocre male athlete suddenly decide he "identifies" as a girl and come in to sweep the competitions. This is a perfectly awful practice. In Illinois, the Democrats are using false and ridiculous arguments to support this insanity, and it's good to see some parents and some legislators with a little more sense standing up to this lunacy.
