President Trump spoke on Wednesday from the East Room, discussing Women's History Month with his usual mixture of commentary and humor; along the way, he managed to drop a few truth bombs. For example, unlike many on the left, President Trump has no trouble explaining what a woman is.
The president said:
They're (Democrats) are fighting for a two percent issue, that's good, let them keep doing it. No matter how many surgeries you have, or chemicals you inject, if you're born with male DNA in every cell of your body, you can never become a woman. You're not going to be a woman.
In this, the president is correct; this is Biology 101, but it bears repeating. What the president, who isn't a biologist but knows a thing or two about this topic, is referring to is our 23rd pair of chromosomes, which come in two varieties: X and Y. Each child receives one from each parent; men have an X and a Y, while women have two X chromosomes. A "woman," which the left seems to have a hard time understanding, is an adult female of the species Homo sapiens - us - who has two X chromosomes.
Why is this so hard for the left to understand?
Later in the speech, President Trump shot a friendly barb at Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who was attending the event with his wife:
The president jibed:
...the group of men and women, we have a lot men that are, like Howard (Lutnick) head of Commerce I see is here - what are doing here, Howard? (Laughter) Huh? Oh, that's a good... he's got his beautiful wife there. I was going to say "What is Howard doing here?" There aren't too many men in this audience, actually.
Actually, in a major event where a woman or, in this case, women, are being honored, that's the appropriate place for a husband - at his wife's side.
In fact, after 33 years of marriage, that's where I generally figure my place is at all times.
The left loves to thump their narrow, atrophied chests and shout about how those of us on the right are "misogynistic," but all of the toughest, most independent women I've ever known were not raving leftists. They were women like my grandmother, a farm wife who raised six kids during the Depression, my Mom, also a farm wife who was capable of tossing 100-pound hay bales into a wagon - and my wife, a Bronze Star recipient, Gulf War veteran, and who has more physical and emotional courage than anyone I've ever known.
Those are the kinds of women we should remember during Women's History Month. I'm mortally certain President Trump would agree.
