VA High School's 'ABCs to Me' for Women's History Month Is More Evidence That the Dept. of Ed Must Go

Virginia is having a normal one. You have university professors advocating for the violent overthrow of the United States, politicians working to ruin credit opportunities for regular citizens, and now a Fairfax County (read, D.C.) high school has decided to honor Women's History Month with a new progressive alphabet.

Question: Shouldn't high schoolers already know their ABCs? This is Reason #965 why the Department of Education deserves to be gutted.

America’s public high schools are strange places to find displays of the alphabet. Perhaps with plummeting standardized test scores and a substantial increase in English-as-a-second-language students in sanctuary districts, high school educators feel the need to review kindergarten basics. In Fairfax County, Virginia’s West Springfield High School, located just 17 miles from the White House, school administrators and teachers have decorated the history hallway this month with a special, leftist rendition of the alphabet.

The display, titled “The ABCs to ME,” is decorated with the school’s colors: a blue background lined with an orange border. Featured in the display is a sign that reads, “A is for Abortion” with an image of a coat hanger with a positive pregnancy test.

Virginia's abortion laws are among the most liberal, but the point is not information but indoctrination. The alphabet goes on to designate "H" for "Hope" with an image of Kamala Harris and "N" for "NOW" — not as in: "right now" — for the National Organization for Women. I guess because there is no Men's History Month, they also had to designate "M" for "Mainsplain, and, get this:

And to cap it all off, “Z is for male gaZe,” just proving to us once again, in case the poor test scores are not enough, that leftist education is more about indoctrination.

Where is Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) when you really need her?

This is not normal, nor is it about history. There is a wealth of women trailblazers and history makers that do not include politicians or those whose only claim to fame is their gender designation. If you want to be innovative and not pull from the typical litany of women history makers, let's kick it back old school to Marie Curie, the first woman to win the Nobel Prize and the only person, male or female, who has won the award in two scientific fields: Physics and Chemistry. Or Sarah Winnemucca, a Native American of the Paiute tribe who worked as an interpreter and negotiator between her people and the U.S. Army and is considered the first Native American to pen an autobiography. And present day? We need look no further than astronaut Sunita Williams, who not only went into space but had to endure nine extra months of being stuck there and has exhibited grace and stability in the midst of it.

The "ABCs to Me" is a rank insult not just to Women's history, but to the young women and men who are forced to pass through that hall and view this history-devoid display. Besides indoctrination, the installment serves no purpose other than to demean, demoralize, and virtue signal; but, this is Fairfax County, VA after all.

The left has turned much of the educational system into an indoctrination machine.
