Lunatics Unhinged: Screaming Protestors Interrupt the Nation's Business

What is it that is making leftists so unhinged lately? Is it President Trump's DOGE finding and eliminating government waste and fraud? Is it the now-closed border, with illegal entry attempts at historic lows? Is it Homeland Security rounding up vicious Tren de Aragua and MS-13 gangsters and kicking them out of our country?

Whatever it is the left is upset about, their lunatic fringe seems to be growing less fringey and more mainstream, at least where the left is concerned. On Tuesday, two separate Congressional hearings were interrupted by shrieking lunatics. The first: FBI Director Kash Patel was testifying during an intel briefing when a Code Pink nutcase started screaming, and was duly ejected from the chamber.

Senator Tom Cotton commented:

That protestor was a Code Pink lunatic, saying the greatest threat saying that the greatest threat to world peace is funding Israel. I will observe, for the benefit of the audience here and on television, that Code Pink is funded by Communist China, as well, which simply illustrates - speak up now, if you want to be removed as well, whoever is saying that.

At this point, another lunatic started shouting and was removed. After that interruption, Senator Cotton continued:

If anyone else would like to join them, speak now, please, so we don't have to have any more disruptions. As I was saying, the fact that Communist China funds Code Pink which interrupts a hearing like this about Israel simply illustrates Director Gabbard's point that China, Russia, Iran, Noth Korea and other American adversaries are working in concert to a greater degree than they ever have before.

In the second unhinged outpouring of lunacy, another shrieking protestor interrupted Governor Mike Huckabee's confirmation hearing as U.S. Ambassador to Israel.

Governor Huckabee responded with his typical humor:

Distinguished members of the committee, I want to say thank you very much for the...

At this point, a, uh, protestor unleashed some kind of prolonged, ululating wail; it's unclear what the message was supposed to be, other than "Look at me, I'm bat-guano crazy." Another started shouting something about American Jews. Governor Huckabee simply waited patiently, with a slight smile, as the protestors were dragged away. Once order was restored, he quipped:

I will mark them down undecided, Senator.

While there's a certain amusement factor to all this, there are some serious undertones.

For one thing, these people can't be attempting to influence policy. Nobody with enough brains to pound sand - a category that may well exclude some of these lunatics - seriously thinks that anyone will listen to these unhinged rants and think, "You know, they're awfully passionate about this, maybe they have a point." No, these people are, for the most part, attention-seekers, mostly lifelong marginals who have nothing better to do with their time.

The amount of unhinged behavior we've seen from the left isn't new, and the really disturbing part is that it may well be only a matter of time before we see another Butler, Pennsylvania-style attempt. Maybe not on the president, but perhaps on the vice president or a Cabinet member. The administration would do well to take a good hard look at the background and activities of every shrieking lunatic who is dragged out of a Congressional hearing.

And, yes, it's OK to point and laugh. They have it coming.
