Epic Fail: Boston Councilwoman Takes on Tom Homan but Faceplants

After border czar Tom "The Hammer" Homan gave a fiery speech laced with spicy language at CPAC 2025 - I was there, and it was a humdinger - a Boston city councilwoman, Sharon Durkan, took a (figurative) swing at him. It didn't go over well. Councilwoman (or would that be Councilperson in Boston?) criticized The Hammer's career, noting that he was once a small-town cop for a brief stint - and overlooking his long service with the Border Patrol and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).

She's trying to walk those comments back now. Ever notice how often Democrats end up doing that? But she's just managing to make herself look even more ridiculous.

Councilwoman Sharon Durkan, who accused Homan of spending his career "policing a town smaller than a Fenway Park crowd," posted a clarification shortly after a Fox News Digital request for comment on Sunday evening.

"Yes, I understand that Tom Homan spent his career as a federal agent within Border Patrol & ICE, but that’s a world away from the realities of policing a major city," Durkan explained. "His background is in immigration enforcement, not community policing – where trust and accountability are key."

Is it just me, or is it painfully obvious that 1) yes, his background is in immigration enforcement, and 2) immigration enforcement is precisely what he's doing? And, I might add, he's a federal officer, tasked by the president of the United States to clean up this illegal immigration mess, and he's fighting you recalcitrants in "sanctuary" jurisdictions to do it? Sharon Durkan is literally in favor of shielding rapists from deportation. As Tom Homan said in his CPAC speech:

"I'm coming to Boston, and I'm bringing hell with me," Homan said during his speech. "I looked at the numbers this morning... I stopped counting at nine. Nine child rapists that were in jail in Massachusetts, but rather than honoring an ICE detainer, you released them back into the street."

"You're not a police commissioner," the Trump administration official added. "Take that badge off your chest. Put it in the desk drawer. Because you became a politician. You forgot what it’s like to be a cop."

Nine child rapists - set back on the streets because Boston's legal system is hosed, and because Boston pols don't want to give the Trump administration a win. It's hard to see it any other way.

I've spent a little time in Boston and there's a lot to love about that city, not the least of which is the history. One sunny Saturday afternoon I was walking around. I happened across an old cemetery and was fascinated by the dates on the tombstones, dating back to just after the American Revolution. One stone was a bit larger than most others, so I looked at it and realized I was standing on Sam Adams' grave.

But Beantown is having trouble these days.

Massachusetts and the greater Boston area have seen several arrests of criminal migrants in recent weeks, including an illegal immigrant connected to a violent Brazilian gang who was recently arrested in Bellingham. (Commissioner Michael) Cox has previously said that his department "doesn't enforce detainers" that are filed by ICE, and that Boston cops "abide by Boston law and Massachusetts law."

"The Boston Police Department has pretty defined rules and we abide by the law here in the state," the police chief said on a segment of WCVB’s "On the Record" show. "We don’t enforce civil detainers regarding federal immigration law. It's defined here in the state, and that’s just how it works."

These politicians answer to the voters. How long will it be before the voters get tired of these people and their endless pandering? Or is Boston so far gone that the people will vote for council members who prefer to see illegal immigrant criminals released to the streets before giving the Trump administration a win?

Tom "The Hammer" Homan is coming to Boston. He's bringing hell with him. It will be interesting to see what happens.
