In recent years, we've seen some good White House Press secretaries, and we've seen some bad ones. The previous administration had two in that position, and they went from bad to awful. Most administrations go through at least a couple; it's a stressful job.
But in Karoline Leavitt, the Trump administration has picked a star.
In her latest display of "be careful what you ask for," Leavitt responded to a reporter's request for evidence of all the wasteful spending the DOGE was identifying and deleting, and she laid out all the receipts - with line item breakdowns.
🚨 WOW. Reporter presses Karoline Leavitt for "proof" of these ridiculous contracts DOGE is terminating... and she literally pulls out the pieces of paper and rattles off each one.

LEAVITT: This is a real fallacy that there is a 'lack of transparency' in DOGE. Musk and Trump… pic.twitter.com/XKWC23XfFk
The reporter asks:
We're just wondering if there's proof, evidence the White House is willing to share evidence of those contracts, or could Elon Musk come to the briefing room and share material evidence of what he's talking about?
With a broad smile, Karoline Leavitt cheerfully and politely slam-dunked that question into the adjacent time zone.
Sure, I would love for Elon Musk to come to the briefing room, that's why we had him go to the Oval Office yesterday, where I think he provided great answers. He was speaking in layman's terms, speaking common sense to all of you in the media, but also to Americans at home, but I would say especially to all of you in the media, because I think it's a real fallacy that there's this alleged lack of transparency when it comes to DOGE. President Trump and Elon Musk have been incredibly transparent on what DOGE is doing.
There is an X account with the DOGE handle. They are tweeting out what they are doing on a daily basis. They have a web site where they are posting the receipts, of the contracts they are reviewing, from the payments they have stopped from going out the door, the secretaries of our departments have stopped from going out the door.
And I would also say that before it was Elon Musk, making our government efficient and accountable, it was some unnamed bureaucrat that none of you knew. Elon Musk is the richest man in the world, he is also now among the most highly scrutinized men in the world, alongside President Trump because of what he is doing and the access he is allowing. There's great transparency.
The press secretary then proceeded to lay out the evidence of the wasteful spending identified so far, including such absurdities as:
A DEI contract of $36,000 for U.S. citizenship and immigration services.
A $3,400,000 contract for a Council for Inclusive Innovation at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
A $57,000 contract for climate change in Sri Lanka.
And the piece de resistance - a DOGE tweet about the mine in Pennsylvania where the federal employee retirement system is managed.
Federal employee retirements are processed using paper, by hand, in an old limestone mine in Pennsylvania. 700+ mine workers operate 230 feet underground to process ~10,000 applications per month, which are stored in manila envelopes and cardboard boxes. The legacy media, of course, will keep doing what they do - initiating micturition down our backs and telling us it's raining. The upside? The Trump administration and the DOGE will keep doing what they are doing - taking a Viking war-axe to wasteful government spending. It would be better to see them using a chainsaw or even a backhoe, but for now, the war axe will do. And Karoline Leavitt will no doubt continue to bring all the receipts to the press briefing room.
Nope. Still not tired of winning.
