As President Donald Trump kicked off his joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Tuesday, he made sure to offer some words of praise for his White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt. Trump introduced the VIPs in attendance and then gave Leavitt high marks for her work herding and attempting to inform the media:

‘Karoline has been doing a great job. She's really probably talked about more than anybody here,’ Trump quipped.

‘She's done a fantastic job. And thank you very much, Karoline,’ Trump added. 'We're proud of you.'

Leavitt had only given two official briefings at that point, and she came out with guns a-blazing for her third one Wednesday, particularly after Democrats had put on a rather embarrassing display Tuesday outside the Treasury Department. They are big mad that Elon Musk and his merry band of DOGE-ers have turned off the foreign aid spigot from which Democrats are used to taking healthy swigs. 

RedState's Nick Arama nicely summed up yesterday's antics:

So they had all the usual leftist protest operations, including MoveOn, get people to come out to the Treasury, where Democrats threw a performative fit and even tried to get in the building. Given the wild threats some of the Democrats were making in their speeches, it's not surprising they allegedly didn't want to let them in. They carried signs that said "coup" and "no one elected Elon Musk," seemingly forgetting that most government employees, including the people at USAID, are not elected either. The guy who was elected was Donald Trump, and he's the one who authorized this review of spending as he is perfectly within his right to do, and that's what terrifies them. 

They are literally one step away from burning Musk in effigy; they'd probably set flame to an American flag if they thought they'd get away with it. This is what an utterly defeated and demoralized party looks like.

When Leavitt took to the podium at the White House briefing room Wednesday, she had a few choice words for Democrats, sharply criticizing their long-term addiction to foreign aid and lack of compassion for their fellow citizens. And she, of course, brought the receipts.

And I would just say a strong message to Democrats who are out there pretending to be outraged about the long list of crap that this administration is cutting. Federal waste and funding, like $2 million for sex changes in Guatemala. Six-million to fund tourism in Egypt. Twenty-million on a new Sesame Street show in Iraq. 

...

Democrats are outraged that the American people want their taxpayer dollars going to good uses, not stuff like this, but then they're very quiet about the fact that there are still North Carolinians and people in California who have lost everything and in the last four years the federal government did nothing to help them.

This president will continue to put Americans first.

You can just call this a political intervention of sorts, as the White House puts Democrats on notice that their addiction to money and power has gotten so out of hand that they've placed their "crap" pet projects in foreign countries ahead of the well-being of Americans. And voters told them in no uncertain terms that we're not doing that anymore.

With Leavitt holding the line and the White House making it clear that the days of unchecked foreign aid and reckless spending are over, Democrats find themselves in the political nuclear winter of their own making. Their performative outrage won’t change the fact that Americans are demanding accountability—and they’re finally getting it.
