On Monday, speaking from the Oval Office, President Trump put the terrorist group Hamas on notice, claiming that if all the hostages they held were not released by noon on Saturday, then "...after that, I would say, all hell is going to break out.” It's important to note the president didn't indicate whether it would be the United States or Israel who would be delivering this harsh lesson to Hamas, but Hamas should probably assume the worst.
Which makes Hamas's response all the more baffling. Do these people even hear themselves?
Hamas has astonishingly lashed out at Donald Trump's threat to 'let all hell break out' if the terror group does not return all the remaining Israeli hostages on Saturday.
A Hamas spokesman said there was no place 'for the language of threats' - roughly 14 months after the terror group slaughtered more than 1,100 Israelis during the October 7 incursion, while also kidnapping and raping hundreds.
Last night the group said it was indefinitely scrapping a scheduled hostage release, claiming Israel had violated the ceasefire agreement that was agreed last month.
No place for "the language of threats," from an organization that routinely makes grandiose threats - in between mass murder, kidnapping, and rape. This shows they aren't negotiating from a position of strength.
Sami Abu Zuhri, a senior spokesperson for the terror group known for its tight stranglehold over the Gaza Strip, boldly claimed Trump's comments did nothing but make negotiations for the end of the war harder.
'The language of threats has no value and further complicates matters,' Zuhri remarked.
He added that Trump needed to 'remember that there is an agreement that must be respected by both parties and this is the only way to return the prisoners'.
As part of the ceasefire agreement, Hamas promised to release 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and an end to the hostilities.
This is a great irony. Hamas, the babbling of Sami Abu Suhri notwithstanding, has no intention of respecting any agreement. They never have and never will. This is their pattern: They launch an attack, Israel responds, and they withdraw behind human shields, hiding in schools and hospitals so that they can screech about Israel targeting innocents. When they start taking serious losses, they beg for an end to hostilities.
They then use that end to hostilities to recruit, re-equip, and re-arm for the next attack. That's what Hamas (and Hezbollah and other terror groups) have always done. That's what they will always do. They have not and never will respect any cease-fire in the long term.

As I've written recently, they are almost certainly resisting any more releases because of the appalling condition of the last few hostages they have released: Sick, starved, abused. That's not to mention the gauntlet of armed maniacs Hamas makes the hostages walk through as they leave captivity.
These are not civilized people. We can't deal with them as we would deal with people living in the modern world. Israel gets that. It seems President Trump gets that, too. And there's no real reason why American forces have to get involved in showing Hamas the "or else what" here; Israel is perfectly capable of doing that.
Hamas likes to talk big, but right now, their mouths are writing checks their butts can't cash. And there will be no peace in that region until Hamas is no longer a factor.
