One of the most glorious aspects of yesterday's premiere of "Trump 2 - Return of the Donald" has been the reactions from the legacy media and Democrats (but I repeat myself). The meltdowns, the hysterical shrieking, the utter denial, the cries of "RHEEE" that are audible from the International Space Station - it's all roundly entertaining and fills us with delight.
We shouldn't forget, though, that some folks in the legacy media are on our side. One such is CNN's Scott Jennings, and his reaction to President Trump's inaugural speech was nothing short of sublime.
I thought this was an incredible speech, honestly, and truly watching Donald Trump indict these gangsters to their faces while they had to sit right in front of him in that intimate setting in the rotunda for Republicans was remarkable. They had to sit there and take it just minutes after Biden, who we're looking at here, pardoned his entire family. I mean, it was glorious.
By the way, I love the rotunda setting. I thought it was regal. I thought it was awesome.
And listening to him talk about how he's going to exercise his power today reminded me that he is absolutely ascendant. He is at the apex of his political power right now. And, you know, the promise of a new presidency is enormous.
Gangsters! Hah! Trump ascendant! Hah! At the apex of his political power! Fantastic! And as Mr. Jennings points out, Joe and Jill Biden, Kamala Harris, and Doug "The Slapper" Emhoff had to sit there and take it, wearing expressions that may have resulted from a sudden influx of alum. Glorious.
Scott Jennings is the best thing CNN has going for it right now. While the rest of the legacy media is melting down into a quivering, gel-like mass, Jennings is dropping some serious truth bombs.

He continues:
You get this power and you have influence. And the mandate is to change people's lives for the better and to restore American prestige. And he began to explain how he was going to do that immediately.
The mandate's simple. It's economic relief. It's fix the immigration crisis, steer the country away from the cultural left and restore American prestige.
The speech hits several notes on that front. And I agree with Caitlyn today. Republicans feel vindicated and Trump is back to fix the country.
Yes, it's a mandate. Yes, Trump intends to do the job he was elected to do - fix the economy, rein in DEI and other lunatic policies, get the borders under control, and return some semblance of sanity to the federal government. Scott Jennings gets that. What's more, he seems well-satisfied about it.
The legacy media is going to have to get their stuff together. Public meltdowns over a president elected with a serious mandate aren't going to help their ratings, which have been collapsing already for some time. Unless all of the legacy media wants to emulate the viewership of "The View," with literally dozens of viewers, they are going to have to acknowledge that there has been a seismic change in the American political landscape and that Scott Jennings represents the views of many more Americans than Rachel Maddow.
