During the first years of World War 2, after the fall of France, Belgium, and the Low Countries, the United Kingdom faced Hitler's war machine from across a few miles of open water. The island nation faced invasion and the destruction of their way of life. In those dark days, the British spirit was embodied in a newspaper cartoon that depicted a British Army soldier, standing alone on a rock as waves crashed around him, his Enfield rifle in one hand. He was shaking his fist at a sky full of German airplanes, and the caption was three powerful words: "Very well. Alone."
The Tommies who stood defiant against Hitler wouldn't recognize their nation today.
Britain is dealing with an incredible, atrocious phenomenon - the mass grooming and mass rape of young British girls, mostly by immigrant men from the Middle East - especially Pakistan. Horrific as this is, unthinkable as it seems, there have been efforts by British authorities and law enforcement to hide this, to cover it up, to ignore it.
More and more British people are calling for a full public inquiry into these grooming gangs - but is it too late? The British Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, herself the child of Nigerian parents, has something to say about it. In an op-ed published in the Daily Mail, she writes:
Britain has witnessed the mass grooming of thousands of the most vulnerable white working-class girls – children – by gangs of men, many of Pakistani heritage. This was rape on an industrial scale.
And shockingly, it was a scandal made possible by the collusion and cover-ups of officials, the police and politicians who were more concerned about community relations than about victims and their families.
It gets worse.
The testimonies of the victims are hard to read. Girls being forced into barbaric sexual acts. Raped by multiple men at the same time or one after the other. Punished by grotesque sexual violence when they resisted.
Children were identified as targets because of their backgrounds and experienced years of systematic abuse from adult men whose communities in some cases even helped protect them.
Thousands of girls’ lives have been damaged or destroyed. Worse still, this was perpetrated not in one rotten borough by a few rotten individuals, but across the nation.
Britain has, for years, allowed virtually unchecked immigration from the Middle East, and the third world in general, and now British families are paying the price. This is as clear-cut a case of "import the third world and expect the third world" as one can find in any of the Western nations today.
The really grotesque aspect of all this is that many of the victims and their families were ignored or even punished for speaking out. Badenoch continued:
From court evidence we read a shocking example of social workers attending a 'Nikah', an Islamic wedding ceremony, between an abuser and his victim.
We hear of a father arrested for trying to retrieve his daughter from rape dens.
Of councils and a police chief collaborating to keep the extent of the child rape scandal out of the headlines for fear of inflaming community relations or being called racist. And of academics and charity workers drafting obfuscatory reports to conceal the true scale of the problem. This can never be allowed to happen again.
Kemi Badenoch calls for a comprehensive, nationwide inquiry into this, and also for lengthened sentences for grooming gang members convicted of abusing children. But it may take a lot more than that if Britain ever wishes to return to what it was. The once great Britain may have already fallen too far.

Britain was once a great empire, one on which the sun literally never set. They had the world's mightiest navy; the Royal Navy was the undisputed master of the seas from the destruction of the Spanish Armada to the end of World War 2. But Britain today is a shadow of that. They have thrown open the doors to the third world, and now they have not only grooming gangs of, let us say the quiet part out loud, Muslim men - and riots in the streets of London of Hamas supporters waving "Palestinian" flags.
No, Britain is probably lost, and most of Europe with it. The country that gave rise to our own has surrendered; the barbarians are already inside the city walls. The only thing that could save them is mass deportation, but let's be honest, that's not likely to happen. The question is this: How far are we from this?
We've had our own Hamas-supporting crowds raising hell on our college campuses and in the streets. How long before the grooming-gang problem arises in earnest in the United States, and what will we do about it?
What's more, how will the United States, in another generation or two, deal with a Europe that is largely a Muslim caliphate?
Let's hope that our grandchildren, in 30 years, won't be seeing a cartoon of an American soldier, standing on a rock, an M4 carbine in one hand and shaking a fist at an incoming jihadi wave, with the caption "Very well. Alone."
