There are certain issues where it's all right to detest everyone involved. And when leftist media types turn on each other, when the members of a major leftist media outlet like MSNBC start to commit autophagy, well, that's one of those times.
So it's OK to feel a little schadenfreude when MSNBC analyst David Jolly attacks MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski for going to Mar-a-Lago to meet with a man who is, interestingly, the incoming President of the United States.
Former lawmaker and MSNBC analyst David Jolly appeared to take a shot at MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on Friday while talking about how Democrats should move forward.
"We didn’t wake up after the election and think, I’m upset because I was wrong. We’re upset because we know we’re right, but we’re on the losing side of this battle. And so what does that mean for a responsible media, for a responsible electorate, for a responsible Democratic Party in this environment?" Jolly began. "Don’t just say we’re going to give equity to Donald Trump, which some people are doing in the Democratic Party, in media, among the electorate."
Wow. The utter arrogance and lack of self-awareness in that statement are just staggering. "We're upset because we know we're right," but those ignorant rubes who voted last month just aren't smart enough to realize it — that sure seems to be the implication.
Jolly is speaking, of course, about Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski having the nerve to visit Mar-a-Lago and talk to President-elect Donald Trump, which seems like something journalists would take in stride.

But that's not the most egregious comment David Jolly made.
"No, that’s absolutely wrong. You can’t do that. Forgive me for saying this. You can’t go to Mar-a-Lago. You can’t do it. That’s going to get me in trouble. You can’t do that. You have to hold Donald Trump accountable for being wrong. You have to hold all of his allies accountable for being wrong, even if that means you’re in a losing environment and you’re threatening your own liberty and your own security as an American," Jolly said.
This has to be one of the most arrogant screeds in the history of journalism. Think about how the legacy media and Democrat partisans (but I repeat myself) would react if, say, Sean Hannity said to the Fox and Friends crew, "You can't do that" if they chose to have President-elect Biden on the show in 2020. The pointing and laughing would have been audible in Shreveport.
David Jolly's statement is arrogant. It's nasty. It's mean-spirited. It's wrong. He's wrong. This is the closest thing Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have done to actual journalism in many years, and one would think their leftist colleagues at MSNBC would laud them for, from their point of view, going into the lion's den in this "Only Nixon could go to China" moment.
But no. Autophagy is the rule of the day. And that's why they are losing.

MSNBC is self-destructing; its hosts, analysts, and "journalists" (scare quotes intentional) are turning on each other like rats in a cage. Trump Derangement Syndrome is driving them beyond reason. And, frankly, it's glorious to watch.
