This is what happens when a nation - ours, in point of fact - throws open its borders to all and sundry, welcoming in anyone who mouths the correct words to get themselves admitted as "asylum seekers" or just those who come in across the border illegally. This is what happens when we allow in people from some of the most crime-ridden places in Central and South America, as well as the rest of the world. In New York City, these illegal immigrants are housed at taxpayer expense at the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown. That hotel has now become the base of operations for the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, who are recruiting kids as young as 11 to prey on New Yorkers and tourists alike.
A brutal crew of baby-faced Tren de Aragua migrant gangbangers at a city-funded Manhattan shelter are pulling off armed robberies in Times Square — and they’re getting away with it, officials and sources said.
Nearly two dozen young migrant thugs, some as young as 11 years old, are part of a dangerous asylum-seeking brat pack that has graduated from purse snatchings to gunpoint heists targeting New Yorkers and tourists alike, a top NYPD official told The Post.
But they’re managing to stay out of jail because of their ages and the Empire State’s lenient criminal justice laws, Detective Bureau Assistant Chief Jason Savino said.
Combine unchecked illegal immigration with a lenient, revolving-door justice system, and you have exactly this: A vicious illegal immigrant gang using kids to game the system and commit robbery and assault on a grand scale. And these kids are openly defiant about their activities.
“You have individuals that are brazen,” Savino said. “We know they have access to guns, evident by the fact that they’ve done gunpoint robberies and they’ve been brazen enough to showcase pistols in and around their social media.
“This is the first formulated group that we found where this group of about 20 individuals that, in pack format, hang out every day, they post on social media, they boast about their crew,” the chief said. “You see little pockets in and around Times Square and in and around the shelters.
In the case of New York, it's tempting to tell New Yorkers that "you got what you voted for," but that is, at this moment, a distraction. Yes, New Yorkers have voted in the municipal government that runs this ineffective justice system that seems only inclined to vigorously prosecute someone whose last name is Trump, but the federal government, under the Harris/Biden border policies, is responsible for the illegal immigrant problem. And if allowed, a Harris/Walz administration would cheerfully continue the practice.
That doesn't have to happen.

These particular gangsters come from Venezuela. Venezuela has announced that they will not accept flights of repatriated Venezuelans. It's difficult to see why the United States has to accept this without question. A quick search reveals that there are flights from the United States to Caracas. It seems the obvious solution that, when these illegal immigrant gang-bangers are caught, they might simply be put on one of these flights, with a couple of U.S. Marshals to make sure they get off at the far end - and stay off. Maduro can blather all he likes, but we are still the United States of America, are we not? There's no reason we should kowtow to a pipsqueak like Maduro. These are his people. They belong there, not here. He can damn well take them back and shut up about it.
This can't continue. There is a reason that immigration is such a hot issue in this presidential election cycle; Americans are growing increasingly tired of the spike in crime, and how much of it seems to be committed by people - like the members of Tren de Aragua - who should not even be here.
