The state of Michigan, even in January or February, can be absolutely beautiful and a fabulous place to live. Having lived here all of my life, I can say that with conviction and absolutely mean it. Even when it is snowy and bitterly cold, this state is kinda cool.
But...there always has to be a butt somewhere in an article about my home state.
Despite its beauty, this state has elected some people who weren't qualified to drive a milk truck. (That is nothing against people who work in the dairy indsutry mind you. I'm not knocking any of those fine folks in any way, shape, or form.) Those folks would just spill the milk all over the place, and we would have to use something else for cereal, which would make me sad.
I just have not been impressed with the two governors from the great State of Michigan, who happened to be women, Jennifer Granholm and the current governor, Gretchen Whitmer.
I'm sure they meant well.
Results, though, are a little bit different when it is all said and done.
Whitmer, to her credit, however, is good at the campaign stuff, having vanquished both of her opponents in 2018 and 2022 by almost 10 points each time. Give credit where credit is due, and the election results speak louder than anything I or anyone else could say.
So when the lady speaks about anything political, it would be wise for anyone in the political realm to at least pay her some attention and see what is percolating in her mind.
Seems fair enough.
So when I read this headline.... Whitmer breaks with Michelle Obama, says US ‘ready for a woman president,’ I was a bit stunned yet intrigued.
That is a bit of an interesting headline. Kind of iffy to me (because how could ANYONE dare disagree with the wife of President Obama?)
The article starts off...
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) said she believes the U.S. is “ready for a woman president,” directly contrasting comments made by former first lady Michelle Obama.
Ok, and.....
During her book tour last fall, Obama said that the country was “not ready” for a female president, referencing former Vice President Harris’s loss to President Trump.
“As we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain’t ready,” the former first lady said.
Ummmmmmmmm...
Well, she might be at least half right.
When asked about these sentiments by NPR in an interview released on Tuesday, Whitmer expressed her “love” for Obama, saying, “the last thing I want to do is disagree with her.”
“But, you know, I think America is ready for a woman president,” Whitmer said. “The question comes down to a choice between two people, and what we saw in this last election, while Kamala Harris didn’t beat President Trump, we saw women get elected across the country.”

However, Harris, thankfully, did not get elected POTUS, and not for lack of trying, but mostly because she was not really the best candidate for vice president for Biden. She was a bit of a hot mess in that role, and as the 2024 nominee — I think Governor Gretchen knows that, though she won't admit it.
Just imagine if Harris were actually elected POTUS and the fellow who is the current governor of Minnesota were her VP. This country would be so screwed.
I actually agree with Whitmer that America is ready for a woman to be elected President of the United States. Pretty obvious that Harris was not it, though, so that is where we part ways.
If you want, I could spend a whole afternoon just posting videos of Harris saying things that were NOT edited by 60 Minutes, but I think you get the point. Kamala was not the best candidate the Democrats could have put up against Trump in 2024, and luckily for them, they won't have to face Donald again.
Just take a look at the video below and listen to the folks in the mainstream media lashing out weeks AFTER the November 2024 loss that Trump delivered to her.
Maybe, though, the GOP could be lucky enough to have her as the Democrats' nominee in 2028.
Nah. Probably not.
