I guess being less than a year away from the 2024 National Presidential election it is officially time to start kicking off the list of those who will leave the country if Donald Trump or (wink wink) Joe Biden wins next year.

I'm only half joking here, I can't really recall anybody who has any conservative or libertarian leanings saying that they would move out of the country if Joe Biden won. I can say that some trust fund babies who claim that they are true Americans who would flee America or claim they're going to based on the results of an election are really the weakest link in the political societal chain. 

We proudly have an early entrant in the "I'm fleeing the country if Trump wins" category, and it is Donald Trump's former fixer and personal attorney, Michael Cohen. 

I was amused to read of his early jumpstart into this race.

Donald Trump's former lawyer will "leave the country" if he is re-elected as President of the United States.

Michael Cohen has claimed a potential re-election "could be a real problem" for the nation's democracy, and he has real fears about how things could pan out.

Appearing on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain', he said: "This could be a real problem, not only again for us, but also for America's democracy and the future of this country… I will leave the country.”

Cohen added that he "fears for his safety" and life, and alleged that Trump will try to "exact revenge" on anyone he can.

He continued: “I fear for my safety. I fear for my life. Again, you don't know Donald Trump. I do.

"Don't listen to my words. Listen to his words. He will exact revenge on anyone who has done him wrong. There's a lot of people on that list.

I find it absolutely amusing that Cohen had to go on a program called "Good Morning Britain" to declare his intention that if his former boss wins next year, he'll have to flee to a country like Britain. The irony here is rich.

I'm one of these people who's not convinced that Donald Trump's going to raise all holy hell if he becomes president again. 

When people talk about "the swamp" and try to sound as though they have an idea, often, they truly don't.

Washington, DC, mostly runs on autopilot and no matter who the president is and what department heads he picks, official DC knows that they're only going to be there if it is Trump for four years. They will be playing the song "Riding the Storm Out" from the minute he assumes office again until the minute he leaves, and not much will change.

Most executive orders and most laws will get stuck in the mud and nothing bad would happen to somebody like Cohen.

Of course, this is not the first time since Cohen and Trump had their breakup that Mike has gone to the media and made some over-the-top allegations to try to wound The Donald. My colleague Mike Miller covered one of his outbursts earlier this year, and he was every bit as amusing then as he was with his latest declaration.

Anyway, Cohen — who worked for Trump for more than a decade, including during the 2016 presidential campaign, and was ultimately sentenced to federal prison in December 2018 after he pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations and related crimes — really went off on Trump and his supporters, beginning with the former president's indictments:

None of these indictments, if you read them, leave any doubt in anyone’s mind that Donald Trump will be held accountable for the allegations that are raised by either Jack Smith, by Alvin Bragg, by Fani Willis. I mean, it’s very crystal clear when you read these indictments exactly what was done. It’s all backed up with documentary evidence and testimony.

Obviously, Cohen's observations, which I'm not even going to call legal opinions, aren't universally shared — not by a longshot. 

If Donald Trump were to win next November, I would lay hard money down that Michael Cohen may leave New York, but he doesn't have the cojones to leave the country. 

Just think about it: How many lefties in 2016 were ready to pack up their bags to leave the country at the prospect of Trump winning — and people on social media were willing to pay their way even though they could absolutely afford to do it themselves? This is just a desperate cry for attention, and it's something that we should all be amused by.

You know those people who have to announce that they're leaving a Facebook group, but they have to do one last post and tell everybody how horrible the group is? That's essentially what Michael Cohen did right here, but because of his former job with Donald Trump, he got to do it on "Good Morning Britain," and then I get to cover it here and quite confidently say to him:

You don't have the stones, Mike. Suck it up, son. Stop being such a whiny wuss because if you think it's bad now, just wait to see what happens if a Democrat wins in 2024. 

You'll be begging to leave, and you won't be able to afford to.
