You don’t have to like Nancy Pelosi and her policies — I know I sure as hell don’t. However, you should damn well admire that she is a fighter for her side and does not stop. I sure do wish the Republicans had more people like her willing to die for the cause. If the Grand Ole Party did have those people, this country would not be in the mess it is currently in.
Just 25 or 30 savvy types like Pelosi in Congress on the “R” side and we would have never gotten railroaded by Obamacare and a number of other massive federal government boondoggles.
Even those that have a ton of grit and some fire and vinegar in them eventually have to step aside. Of course, not because they want to but Father Time is a bit of an @$$%^&* and he takes everyone prisoner eventually.
Does not matter if you are the first Speaker of the House of she/her variety and were once dethroned but held on long enough as the leader of your caucus to get the gavel back. Her time is up and she knows it, but she is not quite ready to announce as she revealed yesterday in The Hill regarding her appearance on CNN yesterday.
From that article…
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday laughed off a question about whether she would run for reelection in 2022, saying she would consult with her family before making her decision public.
Pelosi appeared surprised when CNN’s “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper asked about whether she would run again for her congressional seat, which she has held since 1987.
“I do want to ask about your own future in Congress. Are you going to run for reelection?” Tapper asked.
“Oh, you think I’m going to make an announcement right here and now?” she responded.
The California Democrat has been mum about her future in Congress and whether she would seek the Speaker’s gavel if Democrats retain their majority in the 2022 midterm elections.
Ouch. Obviously, Jake Tapper is no longer on Nancy Pelosi’s CHRISTmas card list.
Now just a little further down the article, they get to why Nancy is a bit touchy about this being asked — because she had to “allegedly” cut a deal after last November’s election to keep the gavel after the Democrats lost seats when they were all expecting to ADD to their majority.
House Democrats agitated for change to their party’s leadership following their loss of the chamber in 2016 and then losing 13 seats in 2020 after predictions indicated major gains. It created one of the slimmest Democratic majorities in decades at 222 seats to 212 for Republicans.
Pelosi won the Speakership again in an unexpectedly dramatic vote for the fourth time in January, which she has promised would be her last.
That Pelosi said she would not run again for Speaker was the worst kept rumor last December in Washington D.C. and was what kept AOC and her girl gang “The Squad” from offering a challenge to Pelosi as the top Democrat in the House last year. Pelosi has had some skirmishes with the radical leftists of her caucus and has not fared well against them as I covered here back in 2019 Nancy Pelosi Sets Up a Battle With Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and The Squad. Who Will Win?…
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez declared her exasperation with Democratic leadership for their refusal to move forward with impeachment proceedings against President Trump as yet another controversy rocks his administration.
A two-month truce with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi cracked just before midnight Saturday when the freshman congresswoman from New York fired a volley on Twitter attacking her own party.
Pelosi has constantly been fighting with the youngsters in her party who think everything should be done via Twitter and not through negotiation. That Pelosi and the Democrats LOST SEATS last year in the House is not of any concern to AOC and her merry band of Marxist harpies; they just want to sound smart on Tik Tok. This creates a problem for the Speaker and why she allowed official Washington to know that she cut a deal to get the kids off her porch for one more caucus election after the November 2020 election.
With the current President’s policies tanking his approval ratings and the historical trend of the party in the White House losing seats in the midterm election, Nancy Pelosi hears Father Time and the Political Reaper whispers.
TIME TO GO.
She won’t run for reelection next year — once you are Speaker you do not return to being a backbencher.
Also, I can’t blame her for not wanting to tell the world on Jake Tapper’s lowly-rated show on CNN. Why would anyone want to make that announcement on a network hardly anyone watches?
Would you?
Nope.
