When it rains it pours and if you are Bernie Sanders you might feel like you are underwater. Luckily for “The Bern” though he has a bunch of his bros to help save him as long as he lets them crash on his couch in one of his luxurious homes.
First, Hillary Clinton said no one likes Bernie and then former Obama campaign manager Jim Messina called Sanders the “worst candidate” for Democrats to pick in 2020. Now comes word that his colleague in the Senate, good ole Amy Klobuchar thinks Bernie should step aside and let another crusty old white person take his place.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar said on “Meet the Press” Sunday that she will support the Democratic nominee but that Sen. Bernie Sanders should not be “leading the ticket.”
“I think Senator Sanders’ idea of kicking 149 million Americans off their current health insurance in four years is wrong. That’s why I don’t think he should be leading the ticket. I think I should be leading the ticket because my ideas are much more in sync with bold ways of getting things done,” Klobuchar argued.
Why all the hate for Bernie all of the sudden? Particularly from a Senator that has a similar reputation among her colleagues in the Senate to being kinda a jerk. Seems rude.
The fact of the matter is that Bernie will not be the nominee no matter what his current poll standing is and the national party will once again screw him as they did in 2016. However, there is no reason to tick off Bernies’ very loyal and excitable base that you would need if possibly the nomination fell to you. Elizabeth Warren did this well when she was asked about Clinton’s comments which I wrote about here. Elizabeth Warren Refuses to Say She Likes Bernie After Clinton Comments And America Laughs
The DNC I’m sure has seen the true polling of how people love the economy, not totally sold on Trump but will not change Trump for an older, crustier white guy that says “Give Me More Money” and will screw stuff up to the likes of which we have never seen. Also, the fact that Bernie will be close to 80 if he were sworn in and just had a heart attack does not inspire confidence.
So good luck to Sen. Klobuchar in her quest to make a showing in Iowa next week. If she somehow survives the cornfields and limps into New Hamshire she will not be greeted warmly in Sanders backyard by the Bernie bros who fully expect Grandpa to take your money to give to them. They are a fickle bunch and get cranky rather quickly.
Good Luck on that Amy!!!
