Mitch McConnell Leaves Room for Trump Team to Ask to Dismiss Impeachment in Senate Trial

With the beginning of the new week and the impeachment trial officially kicking off on Tuesday, time to prep with some “leaks” of what we can expect. Starting with something to drive the talking heads a bit whacky with the idea that the Trump team could get a dismissal of the charges outright.

Nice way to get the kids all riled up Mitch.

According to Axios

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is preparing a resolution that would leave room for President Trump’s lawyers to move immediately to dismiss the impeachment charges if they so choose, according to Republican Sen. Josh Hawley.

Republican Senate leaders, including McConnell and Roy Blunt, the senior senator from Missouri, have already said members aren’t interested in a vote to dismiss. And it seems unlikely that Trump’s team would push for what would almost certainly be a losing vote — a move that could be seen as a sign of weakness at the outset of the trial.

I wonder if McConnell always screws with people like this.

The very notion that the Senate would vote to dismiss these charges is pure fantasy and not going to happen. Later on in the Axios article, they even quote Mitch as saying as much.

The Senate has the duty to listen to the articles of impeachment that Nancy and the highballs at noon gang finally decided to send over after 4 weeks of sitting on them hoping they would hatch. So a trial is going to happen even with stories running with this hint of intrigue rolling out.

So why is Axios running this as some sort of possibility?

We know that Mitch is not sharing everything with the Democrats on the soon to be released resolution so the story didn’t come from them. This is all meant to get the lefties all wound up before the proceedings and have them step in front of a camera and make announcements of “This better not happen” when it never will.

While it is very possible the President’s lawyers will ask for dismissal at some point early in this process there is ZERO chance of it happening. Even if Schiff looks right at the Chief Justice of the United States, John Roberts and admits this is pretty much all bogus. Mcconnell is still on the top of his game, unlike Pelosi, and he won’t allow that to happen.

It just really seems unfair that the Senate Majority Leader is allowing Chuck and his gangs’ chain to be pulled like this.

I can’t wait until Tuesday.
