President Trump in an event at the White House today that was about making changes to National Environmental Policy Act Regulations, took some questions and one of the reporters asked him about the Ukranian jetliner that went down in Iran. Speculation has been building that the plane was shot down the night of Iranian missiles flying into Iraq.

Moments after his response below the Pentagon released a statement saying they believed the plane was shot down. My colleague Bonchie covered that right here… BREAKING: U.S. Officials Confirm Iran Shot Down the Ukrainian Airliner.

Here is what started the ball rolling.

Reporter: Mr. Presdient, the plane that went down in Iran, what do you think happened to that plane?

Trump: Well, I have my suspicions

Reporter: Was it shot down?

Trump: I don’t want to say that, other people have those suspicions also. It’s a tragic thing when I see that, its a tragic thing but somebody could have made a mistake on the other side, could have made a mistake as it was flying, it was it was, flying.

Reporter: (inaudible)

Trump: Not our system it has nothing to do with us. It was flying in a pretty rough neighborhood and somebody could have made a mistake. some people say it was mechanical and I personally dont think that is even a question, personally. So we will see what happens.

Reporter: Do you think it was shot down by accident?

Trump: I don’t know, I really don’t know that’s up to them. At some point they will release the black box, ideally, they would get it to Boeing or if they gave it to France or if they gave it to some other country that would be ok too. I think ideally that will be released I have ahh feeling that is ahh something very terrible happened, very devasting.

The video of this White House event is right HERE.

That the President was hinting he didn’t believe it just magically fell out of the sky means that the United States has pretty good info that the Iranians are lying there you know whats off. How Ukraine and the Canadian governments will react in the coming days will be interesting to see with all the tension of the last couple of months with Iran.

Those 176 people lost in that flight were just innocent bystanders and hopefully the Iranian will come clean about what happened so those family members and friends can begin to move on without their loved ones.
