Sen. Ted Cruz Destroys Chick-fil-A Ban in San Antonio!

Who doesn’t love some Chick-fil-A during the busy work week? Well, the San Antonio city council for one.

As my colleague, Sistah Toldjah covered here last week (BANNED: San Antonio City Council Says Chick-Fil-A Not Welcome At Airport After Think Progress Report), some people are cranky in southern Texas.

This decision was made after a Think Progress report was issued and then the San Antonio Council voted to deny a contract to Chick-Fil-A for food, beverage, and retail prime Concession Agreement for the airport. They did, however, approve permission to operate for ” Smoke Shack” and “Local Coffee.”

Since when is smoking approved over devouring delicious chicken?

Sen. Ted Cruz was none too happy about this. According to KSAT

“The details of this story are even worse,” Cruz said, tweeting a link to another story about the decision. “San Antonio City Council voted to ban ⁦@ChickfilA⁩ from the airport bc the company gave to…the Fellowship of Christian Athletes & the Salvation Army?!? That’s ridiculous. And not Texas. #LeftistIntolerance”

One of the councilmen, Roberto Trevino, released a statement that had this drivel all over it.

“With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion. San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we do not have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior. Everyone has a place here, and everyone should feel welcome when they walk through our airport. I look forward to the announcement of a suitable replacement by Paradies.”

A successful business that treats its employees and customers incredibly well does not fit in a city known for its compassion? Did someone fall and bump their head?

I have been to the great state of Texas a number of times, although, never to San Antonio. I have always considered Texas and Texans to be a place where the idea of rugged individualism is still vibrant. Possibly that does not extend as far south as S.A.

Thankfully, Ted Cruz was willing to stand up and blast this decision for the weak-kneed moronic reasoning that accompanied it. These type of decisions based on nothing but one’s feelings are one of the more frightening aspects of living in today’s world. Logic and common sense be damned.

Hopefully, one day soon, the city that is home to the Alamo might regain some of its spine and start making decisions not based on feelings but based on facts.

One can dream.
