Here we go.
You remember the story of the Covington Catholic High School kids at the Lincoln Memorial at the March for Life at the end of the day being approached by Sitting B.S., Nathan Phillips. Those nasty kids were picking on the Black Israelites and the native Americans with sneers, chants, and yelling MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.
Except none of it was true and the opposite happened where the kids were picked on.
Well, the first of many promised lawsuits have been filed by the family of Nick Sandman against the Washington Post for 250 million dollars. That is the amount that Amazon owner Jeff Bezos paid for the paper way back in 2013.
Lucky for Bezos that whole second headquarters thing in New York was just canceled in case he has to pay out.
According to WLWT…
Attorneys Lin Wood and Todd McMurtry said it’s their first lawsuit on behalf of Sandmann’s family, and additional lawsuits will likely be filed.
The lawsuit claims that the Post “wrongfully targeted and bullied Nicholas because he was the white, Catholic student wearing a red ‘Make America Great Again’ souvenir cap on a school field trip to the January 18 March for Life in Washington, D.C.”
The lawsuit adds that the Post engaged in “a modern-day form of McCarthyism.”
The lawsuit goes on to say that the Post “ignored basic journalist standards.”
They went for all the “trigger” words and phrases there. Throwing in McCarthism and basic journalist standards in a lawsuit at the Washington Post is a double whammy.
All media outlets absolutely soiled themselves on this story. The rush to judgment based on a picture and the eye witness account of a fraud made for a great story and the ability to finger wag until your digit hurt. Yet, the Washington Post holds itself up as a beacon of straight news and an outlet full of reporters digging for the story.
They didn’t. They did a full Alex Jones on this with the ranting and screaming included.
That the family of Nock Sandman has hired attorneys known for fighting slander and the first lawsuit they filed was against W.P. shows that they are serious about doing some damage to those that willfully did damage to Sandman and the kids from Covington.
I’m glad they are.
Just in the last week, we have seen another story fall apart after a rush to judgment and it seems to be happening a bit too much in the rush to be the first person with a hot take tweet. Possibly this will be the shot that will slow people down a but before flapping the gums.
Stay tuned.
