Chicago, Chicago, that toddlin’ town
Chicago, Chicago, I’ll show you around

Who wouldn’t love a town that is going to give you 500 dollars a month for just breathing?
In one of the more predictable moves in a city that is ruled by socialists, the problem is never that government oversight does not work…its just we need more.
Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar has recently introduced legislation that would give 1000 families $500.00 dollars for just living in that toddling town. No. Questions. Asked.
The theory, of course, is that this will help alleviate poverty.
According to Fox News
Chicago alderman Ameya Pawar recently proposed legislation that would provide 1,000 families with a $500 monthly stipend — no questions asked. The bill already has the backing of the majority of city lawmakers, and Pawar hopes to soon work with Mayor Rahm Emanuel to implement the pilot program, The Intercept reported.
“Nearly 70 percent of Americans don’t have $1,000 in the bank for an emergency,” Pawar told the outlet. “UBI could be an incredible benefit for people who are working and are having a tough time making ends meet or putting food on the table at the end of the month.”
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has not weighed in on whether or not he would approve of this.
If you can spend this however you want, there is a pretty good chance you STILL are not going to have $1,000 in the bank for an emergency.
I know this is a really novel idea but how about tackling the crime problem in Chicago before giving away money for just converting oxygen to carbon? That might be a better use of the city’s precious resources instead of politicians giving away the rest of Illinois taxpayers’ dough.
This is just pandering instead of solving the real issues in a major American city and it is a sad state of affairs but not just limited to Chicago.
