Alleged White House UFC Terror Plot Ringleader Was Protected by Obama-Era DACA, DHS Says

We're learning more about the foiled plot to unleash a mass casualty event at the UFC event held at the White House last Sunday to celebrate America 250, and the newest detail to emerge may be the biggest bombshell yet: the alleged ringleader has been living illegally in the United States for years.

His name is Abraham Alvarez, and he's been identified in federal documents as playing a major role in planning the attack that he and his co-conspirators planned to carry out on those gathered to watch the fights on the South Lawn of the White House. Fox News' Bill Melugin wrote on X Thursday morning that Alvarez "is a Mexican illegal alien who was granted DACA by the Obama administration. DHS says Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez overstayed a B-2 visitor visa and received DACA in 2014."

Melugin also revealed that the FBI has assessed Alvarez as being "responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the planned attack," and noted the illegal said in an encrypted group chat that the goal of the attack was to get “as deadly as we can get.”

Alvarez can be seen grinning in his mugshot after being taken into federal custody.

BREAKING: DHS confirms that an alleged ringleader of the UFC/White House terror plot is a Mexican illegal alien who was granted DACA by the Obama administration. DHS says Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez overstayed a B-2 visitor visa and received DACA in 2014. The FBI assessed that Alvarez was responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the planned attack. Alvarez detailed the plot in an encrypted group chat, including the planned use of “counter sniper(s) and drones,” with the explicit intention of being “as deadly as we can get.”
Per DHS: “Alvarez and his co-conspirators face federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Alvarez.”

As RedState previously reported, five men have been taken into custody as part of what is believed to be a 23-person plot to use drones to attack buildings near the UFC event and shoot the spectators as they fled the area. Here's Ward Clark:

Details are still pending, but this appears to have been a complex plan using a squad-sized element of attackers with multiple waves of assault. This isn't a nut in a hedge with a cheap Chinese rifle; it's even more bothersome than a kid with a rifle on a rooftop managing to get a shot off. If this had actually happened, the numbers of people involved in the planned attack and the technology they were reportedly planning to employ, in that large, crowded venue, may well have been able to get a blow in at the president himself.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News' Melugin that the terrorists will now be facing federal charges: “Alvarez and his co-conspirators face federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Alvarez.”
