In an astonishing turn of events, Disney has announced that it will be cutting a transgender storyline from the upcoming animated Pixar children's show "Win or Lose."
The eight-episode show follows a co-ed middle school softball team called the Pickles as they prepare for the big championship game. Each episode takes the point of view of one of the show's characters, including players, coaches, referees and parents, during the days leading up to the game.
Disney apparently made the decision to axe the storyline a few months back, but only made it public Tuesday in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter:
“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”

Yes, I had to read that statement twice, too, to make sure it said what I thought it said. This is an amazing admission from a company that, just a few years back, was all-in on pandering to the radical left through woke storylines that repelled most of its intended viewing audience
Few details are known about the transgender character in question, but the transgender actress (actor?), Chanel Stewart, who was hired to do the voiceover on Win or Lose, is reported to be "very disheartened" by the news.
“I was very disheartened,” adds Stewart. “From the moment I got the script, I was excited to share my journey to help empower other trans youth. I knew this would be a very important conversation. Trans stories matter, and they deserve to be heard.”
Stewart was 14 when s/he saw an ad saying Pixar was looking for an "authentic, 14-year-old transgender girl to voice a transgender teenager." Keisha Stewart, Chanel's mother, is of the opinion that children should be exposed to transgender characters because "that's the world we live in."
“It was upsetting because my daughter is transgender and this is her life. I felt like it was very important that we not hide that fact,” Stewart’s mom Keisha tells Deadline. “There may be some parents out there who are not ready to have that conversation, but this is the world that we live in and everyone should be represented. Everyone deserves to be recognized. And it felt like it was just another setback for the LGBTQ community, because it’s very hard on transgender teenagers … transgender people, period. Especially when you’re young and you’re trying to figure out how to navigate this world that you live in and be able to grow into your own person.”
Luckily for Chanel Stewart, the character will remain in the show, but will now be a straight teenage girl.
Disney Is Quietly Bending the Knee to You As You've Proven Stronger in the Culture War
Through a series of very bad decisions, the Disney brand has found its image quite tarnished, perhaps beyond all repair. RedState's Brandon Morse has been a consistent voice calling out Disney for its pandering, and recently wrote:
These woke shows don't fail because these guys create campaigns that stop people from watching them. They fail because these shows and movies are just garbage, with concepts and messages that appeal to a very narrow and niche fan base. Perhaps messaging based in leftist values is cool with a select group of people who like to "see themselves represented" in mainstream franchises, but in the end, it just amounts to bad fan fiction.
Could it be that the tide is turning and Disney is finally reading the room correctly? This latest move by Disney proves that the years of conservative culture vultures holding woke Hollywood accountable for terrible, leftist storytelling is finally paying off.
