WATCH: California's Uber-Leftist AG Squirms Uncomfortably When CNBC Panel Mocks His Climate Hypocrisy

Democrats are so used to getting away with lying to the public that many of them think they can say anything they want without any pushback from the media. Let's face it — they rarely do get any substantial pushback from the media because, well, they're all in on it together.

That wasn't the case Tuesday for California's super liberal state attorney general, Rob Bonta, who clearly expected to breeze through an interview on the CNBC show "Squawk Box." Bonta was there to answer questions about a lawsuit he filed Monday against ExxonMobil, alleging the company misled consumers about its recycling efforts.

California’s attorney general sued ExxonMobil on Monday, alleging that the company had waged a “campaign of deception” for decades to mislead consumers and convince them that recycling was a viable solution for plastic waste. The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court of California in San Francisco, says ExxonMobil promoted recycling as a “cure-all for plastic waste,” even though the company knew that plastic would be difficult to eradicate and that certain methods of recycling could not process much of the waste produced.

Bonta went into defensive mode when challenged by "Squawk Box" host Becky Quick about giving Exxon some credit for its "advanced recycling" efforts to turn plastic waste into raw materials that can then be used to make new products, such as jet fuel. Surely this is a good thing? Not to leftists like Bonta, who will settle for nothing less than 100 percent compliance when it comes to their oh-so-noble efforts to save the environment from all those detestable humans inhabiting the earth.

Except for humans like Rob Bonta, who get a free pass. At least in Rob Bonta's mind. But, the CNBC panel wasn't having any of it and called Bonta out on his own climate hypocrisy.

WATCH: California's Democrat Attorney General Rob Bonta IMPLODES on CNBC's Squawk Box after his hypocrisy on the climate is exposed after he flew to New York City:

Bonta: "[Exxon] don't get any credit for advanced recycling. Turning things into jet fuel that is emitted into the air or transportation fuel--

"Squawk Box's Becky Quick: "So your point is we shouldn't have jet fuel?"

Squawk Box's Joe Kernan: "You flew here though, right?"

Bonta: "We travel."

A glaring reminder that these folks want to live by one set of rules while they force everyone else to live under a different set of rules.

Notice the sweat forming on Bonta's upper lip? He's clearly uncomfortable being in the hot seat and having his own humanly habits called into question. CNBC's Joe Kernan wasn't going to let Bonta's blithe dismissal of Exxon's jet fuel-making efforts, laughing incredulessly at Bonta, "You flew here, though." That caught Bonta off guard, and he stumbled into his nonsense answer of, "We travel." Oh, okay, well that's fine then. As long as it's YOU who travels. It's acceptable because you're super special, but the rest of us schlubs need to stay home and like it.

Squawk Box broadcasts from studios in New York City, so Bonta didn't just make a short little trip to talk about his latest lawsuit, he hiked it about 3,000 miles — all the way across these fruited plains of ours. A boondoggle, if you will, courtesy of California taxpayers.

This isn't the first time Bonta's exploits have been covered on the pages of RedState. In February of 2023, our own Jennifer Van Laar wrote about Mrs. Rob Bonta being appointed to oversee the budget of her husband's department.

California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon has appointed Asm. Mia Bonta, wife of CA Attorney General Rob Bonta, to chair Assembly Budget Subcommittee 5, which controls funding for many of California’s public safety agencies, including the one her husband heads, the Department of Justice. All three officeholders, unsurprisingly, are Democrats.

God love ya, California.

"We travel." It's an incredibly Kamala-esque response, a mixture of smug elitism and utter cluelessness wrapped in a warm cloak of hypocrisy. It's nice to see leftists called out on it once in a while on a mainstream platform like CNBC.
