Is it ok to call this whole Comey thing “Nixonian” now, without Trump faithful sounding off like a tribe of Howler monkeys?
I mean, Nixon made secret tapes of Oval Office conversations that apparently got him in a spot of trouble, and now Trump is alluding to something similar.
As Jay Caruso pointed out earlier today, Trump tweeted out a not-so-thinly veiled threat against former FBI Director James Comey.
James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!

I’m going to go out on a limb and say our president is not a fan of history.
So did this tweet have the desired result, which we can only assume is meant to be to strike fear into the heart of Comey before he testifies any further in the investigation into Russian interference?
According to CNN:
Former FBI Director James Comey is “not worried about any tapes” of conversations between him and President Donald Trump, a source familiar with the matter told CNN Friday, adding that “if there is a tape, there’s nothing he is worried about” that could be on it.
Good for him. If Trump has tapes, it actually could work out worse for him than for Comey.
I actually have this image of Trump having one of his ego-stroke rallies, then holding up some sort of recording device and announcing to his adoring sycophants that this is the recording of Comey.
The issue actually came up again on Friday, when White House press secretary Sean Spicer was asked if Trump was actually secretly taping conversations with department heads.
From HuffPo:
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said President Donald Trump has “nothing further to add” about a potential recording of a conversation he had with former FBI Director James Comey.
I’m with Jay, here. Before he’s impeached, Trump needs to just step away. It’s obvious the man is very much out of his element in the presidency.
He should go back to his life as a semi-private citizens and do what he knows: ruin his marriage and file bankruptcy.
