And the fallout over Donald Trump’s 2005 hot mic moment continues.
Congressman Jason Chaffetz has withdrawn his endorsement of Donald Trump.
Chaffetz, a Republican representing Utah’s Third Congressional District, appeared on Fox 13 News at Nine Friday, saying: “I’m out. I can no longer in good conscience endorse this person for president. It is some of the most abhorrent and offensive comments that you can possibly imagine.”
Rep. Chaffetz said he and his wife have a 15-year-old daughter, and he said if he can’t look her in the eye and tell her about what Trump said he can’t endorse the man.
While Chaffetz said he isn’t sure who he will vote for, he said he won’t be voting for Hillary Clinton and added that it’s a shame Mike Pence isn’t at the top of the ticket. He also said Trump’s response to the criticism was an apology for getting caught, not an apology for his behavior.
Chaffetz had endorsed Senator Marco Rubio during the primaries, but once Rubio was eliminated from the running, he, like too many others, decided to tow the party line and endorse the nominee.
Back in August Chaffetz told Fox 13 News he didn’t agree with everything Trump said or how he said it, but he said at that time he felt Trump was more trustworthy than Hillary Clinton and would be better for Utah.
Chaffetz joins a host of others who have condemned Trump’s words, in the aftermath of the vulgar video’s release.
Senator Mark Kirk, of Illinois, delivered what is, perhaps, the most bold statement in the matter.
DJT is a malignant clown – unprepared and unfit to be president of the United States.

.@realDonaldTrump should drop out. @GOP should engage rules for emergency replacement.

None of this is different than who Trump was when he entered the race, or who he was throughout the primary season.
This isn’t a different Trump than the Trump that was celebrated at the GOP convention in July.
It’s the same, vile Donald Trump, and the GOP could have stopped this.
