Acting US Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin has notified one of the prosecutors who worked for Robert Mueller's fraudulent "Russiagate" investigative team that the Department of Justice has grave concerns about the “integrity and legality” of his role in that investigation. The target of his inquiry is former Assistant US Attorney Aaron Zelinsky. Zelinsky was a key figure in the purely vindictive prosecution of Roger Stone and later claimed that Stone got a special deal because of his friendship with President Trump (see Judge in Roger Stone Sentencing Vindicates Attorney General Bill Barr's Decision to Intervene in the Case – RedState and Robert Mueller's Whining About Roger Stone Not Going to Prison Is the Kind of Unmanly Behavior We've Come to Expect From Him – RedState). Zelinsky's seeming lack of candor in his congressional testimony drew him an IG investigation (our very own Shipwreckedcrew covered that in detail, see Dept. of Justice Inspector General Investigating Circumstances of Roger Stone Sentencing Dispute – RedState).
Martin is interested in two particular episodes. One of the episodes most RedState readers are familiar with from Russiagate days. That is the persecution of George Papadopoulos and Zelinsky's lying to a federal judge just to send Papadopoulos to prison. "You then noted that [Professor Joseph] Mifsud was able to leave the United States and avoid a confrontation with authorities due to Papadopoulos' dishonesty," writes Martin. "Due to your false statements, it appears you sent an innocent man to jail in an attempt to advance the false narrative that the campaign of a serving President had colluded with Russia to win the presidency. It also appears you knew this narrative to be false."

What Martin is referring to are FBI agent reports, which say that Papadopoulos was very cooperative and assisted their efforts in intercepting the elusive Mr. Mifsud. RedState reported exhaustively on that incident when it happened; see Solomon: Newly Declassified FBI Documents Contradict Mueller Team's Claims in Papadopoulos' Sentencing Memo – RedState.
Curiously, Martin is interested in another episode in Zelinsky's life. "We would also like to speak with you about your 2012 service to the Peking University Transnational School of Law, including what Chinese national contacts you made during that period and those you remained in contact with during the Mueller investigation and since."
We must assume that Martin knows much about Zelinsky's ties to China, otherwise he wouldn't have asked the question. We can also be sure that he has more substantive questions to ask than if he and Eric Swalwell were rogering Fang Fang at the same time. If the Chinese were embedded in Mueller's investigation, it potentially invalidates the Russiagate narrative as we know it, introduces another foreign player, and possibly leads in directions that Hillary Clinton and her cronies would rather not see it go.
Martin cites his authority for the investigation, President Trump's executive order titled "Ending The Weaponization Of The Federal Government." He also invites Zelinsky to "voluntarily meet with me and representatives of my office to discuss these discrepancies."
The wheels of justice turn slowly, the old adage goes, but grind exceedingly fine. Martin is going after Zelinsky because his goose is cooked. He submitted a false statement to try to get Roger Stone a 7-to-9-year sentence for being less than candid with Congress. It was a petty and vindictive act, much like lying to a judge to get Papadopoulos thrown in the slammer. Maybe we will eventually unravel the origins of Russiagate and take righteous vengeance on the perpetrators.
